A Couple Of Reasons Why La Grande Maison...

May 29, 2019,20:13 PM

... Is my favorite brand.

The ATMOS Clock. No Winding Key. Gathers Energy Based On Atmospheric Temperature. Almost Perpetual Motion. Genius!

Since 1833, Jaeger-LeCoultre has always been an innovator.  Besides making timepieces, Antione LeCoultre invented a device that allowed mechanical components to be measured to a thousandth of a millimeter (aka "Millionometer"). This lead to all kinds of innovative and truly bitchin' watchmaking advancements, such as Antione's crown winding mechanism, allowing LeCoultre watches to dispense with the winding key required by all other brands.

JLC's relationship with Aston Martin resulted in some really cool timepieces. I can't afford one of the cars, but I can afford some of the watches.  Just one more reason (or reasons) why I love this brand!

More Innovation - The AMVOX II is a chronograph without buttons. Start/Stop is activated by pressing down on the crystal at 12:00.  Reset is achieved by pressing down on the crystal at 6:00.  Yes, that's just more cool.

It's certainly not difficult to explain to those who frequent this particular forum why I love this brand.  Why WE love this brand.  One thing I know for sure; once someone discovers Jaeger LeCoultre, the love affair never ends. Maybe it's that constant and persistent focus on excellence. Maybe it's the cool factor, or the traditional factor, or the innovative factor...

Maybe it's being able to execute this....

 - That's what I call "Living Art".  La Grande Maison!

Cheers!

- Scott

I agree with every word you have typed. My favorite watchmaker by some margin as well . Love the AMVOXes, the ATMOSes, REVERSOs and every other line they make because there is brilliance to be found in each and every one of them. By the way, it is Monsieu...

Arrrrgh...

... That's a killer GEO. The podcast will be fired back up as soon as Jody is done getting his house back together. His home fell partial victim to the terrible fires we had last year and his weekly focus is rebuilding. Thanks for asking.

Oh wow. Poor J. I didn’t realise he got caught up in the fires.

They are getting tricky to find because the model has been discontinued and I don’t think they sold very well. For me, this is a great watch enthusiast’s piece. 😀👍🏻 Have a great weekend

Thank You, My Friend...

Question

 By: Jurry : May 30th, 2019-02:58
I’ve often look at the Atmos clock. The system is awesome especially coz it’s invented many years ago. Since it’s using changes in temperature as energy source, it’s more or less perpetual. That leads to the question: why hasn’t this concept be used for o...

I Think Many Have Tried...

 By: elliot55 : May 30th, 2019-07:50
... And failed. It's not an easy trick to pull off. One would think a wrist watch could work on this concept, but the truth of the matter is that the clock has to be set in a place where it will be perfectly level. The 'pendulum' has almost zero friction ...

Hi

Yes I’ve heard about the clock being very sensitive but isn’t it strange that in the past 100 years nobody solves that problem? Doesn’t change the fact that the concept is fantastic
