Thanks for the review and glad you like it. It is good to love something and still be able to see and accept its negative sides. It looks good, that is for sure! Best, É. [nt]

I talked a lot of negative

 By: ripper444 : September 11th, 2019-15:10
Then like a hypocrite when I saw this dial I bought it. I still don’t agree with using a cheap movement with 38hr power reserve but that dial is something else. This shows me JLC has the ability to create great watches still. At a hefty discount this is a...

Congratulations!

We will duly forgive your hypocricy...

That’s a great looking watch!

 By: Rrpdc : September 11th, 2019-16:01
Agree, do wish 38 h reserve was longer.

Congratulations! Dial is very nice

 By: reintitan : September 11th, 2019-16:04
and as for the movement...yup...JLC got caught flat-footed by the other manufactures and is now playing catch-up with movements that provide longer power reserves. I said it before, 70 hrs-72 hrs autonomy on a single full wind is fast becoming the standar...

Dial looks great - & we're all allowed to change our minds

 By: jml_watches : September 11th, 2019-16:35
So the new norm for power reserve is around 70 hrs. I know 38 is a lot less, but if you're wearing it quite a lot isn't it fairly academic? I'm not sure if I understand why 70 hours has been seen as the new way forward. But that's all by the the by, looks...

You are correct...

Longer PR is usually more beneficial for manual wind watches. However, with low PR on automatics, sometimes watches stop in the middle of the night if one doesn't move around enough. Case in point, my 7-day PR IWC Big Pilot sometimes loses 1 day overnight...

Rolex and Tudor have a great answer to this question

 By: reintitan : September 11th, 2019-16:59
Usually folks change watches or take off watches altogether during the weekend. With the longer PR you can take off the watch off on Friday and then put it back on again on Monday and it will still be running with the precision undisturbed. No need to win...

Yes but

 By: MTR : September 13th, 2019-23:23
if you have more than two watches like the most of us here this calculation doesn’t help anymore. I assume that most of us would need 30 days PR as a standard to get through... 🙄 Best Thomas

Actually, according to your estimate an 8 hr. autonomy would be sufficient

 By: reintitan : September 18th, 2019-16:10
As you would wear the same watch so infrequently.

As far as PR

 By: ripper444 : September 11th, 2019-18:03
38hr on paper and for marketing purposes looks horrible. I agree longer is better BUT ONLY if it remains accurate. In my experience with brands like IWC if you leave it for a couple days the watch loses so much time that it’s pointless having that kind of...

Thanks for the clarification

I do see where you're coming from - that there has been a raft of new movements that have been introduced with with around 70 hrs power reserve. The ones I'm aware of are: Rolex Tudor Seiko Lots of Swatch group brands. So yes, perhaps they need a movement...

One thing I learned through this watch "collecting" journey

 By: ripper444 : September 12th, 2019-05:50
No matter how good the deal No matter the specs No matter the quality No matter the resale If the watch is uncomfortable or does not fit your lifestyle or you don't really love the piece then nothing else matters. The dial on this one is probably the cool...

Beautiful watch! I understand why you bought it.

 By: als1678 : September 11th, 2019-19:48
But a classic watch manufacturer being run as a fashion brand, that I do find sad... Extreme lab, gyrotutbillon, duometre, even constant seconds - there used to be so much more to JLC than slapping a new dial on an ancient horological machine.

Always! ;) [nt]

watch talk

 By: Weems@8 : September 12th, 2019-10:53
The JLC is nice. 1 i like blue. 2. i like classic looking watches. A cheap movement is for a brand like JLC strange. Is that watch made for people who want badly a JLC? I like watches, but i have my favorites. For example the Richemont brother Baume & Mer...

Looks fantastic!

My little review after a few days wear

 By: ripper444 : September 13th, 2019-12:29
Looks wise - still stunning. I love this dial. Accuracy wise - as expected the 899A/1 is cheap and mine has been gaining +10 daily Comfort wise - A solid 8/10. I would have preferred a sports clasp or pin buckle over the dressy deployant clasp Rotor noise...

Thanks for the review...

By: India Whiskey Charlie : September 13th, 2019-12:48
I believe if you wear the watch continually for a couple weeks, the accuracy will improve over time. Also, what is a dressy deployant clasp? I have never seen one on a rubber strap. Care to post a picture?

Butterfly style

 By: ripper444 : September 13th, 2019-13:12
This is a picture from the web of the black dial variant. The clasp is not bad by any means just my personal preference on a sports watch to add more counter weight and be sportier. This is directly off their master line. ...

Ah yes, not my preferred style deployant.

By: India Whiskey Charlie : September 13th, 2019-13:22
I like this type more. ...

Agreed

 By: ripper444 : September 13th, 2019-15:49
IWC has some of the best deployant clasps out there!

And, it is not exclusive to IWC...

By: India Whiskey Charlie : September 13th, 2019-15:59
As other Richemont companies use them as well: ...

Yes

 By: ripper444 : September 13th, 2019-17:19
They took all their brands. Removed all creativity. Forced them to share parts and movements. Swatch group is much better for quality and innovation.

Btw what makes you think accuracy will improve?

 By: ripper444 : September 13th, 2019-18:14
I have heard that a lot from people but never experienced it in life. Usually if a movement is good and accurate it’s like that on delivery. If it’s fast or slow in my experience it remains so
