A rest review on JLC prima ballerina for 2014
By: moc : February 4th, 2014-00:55
A great "exercise"as you said. At first a bit disappointed about a tourbillon in this exquisite minute repeater, but then after the live experience I understood the complexity of such an incredible interpretation. I was often wondering if I would prefer it...
No doubt this is an important watch
By: Asimut : February 4th, 2014-01:08
both to JLC and to the world of horology. Luckily, i had the opportunity to see and hear it in Geneve and I agree with all of your points, it sounds very promising. I think the solution to the delay of absent quarter hours in MRs is brilliant and AFAIK ha...
The rotor noise is still on work...
By: amanico : February 4th, 2014-07:57
JLC already found a technical solution for that. Silent blocks. Like in cars! It would not be tolerable to have such a Watch " woooobbling " when the rotor moves, would it? Still some improvements on the minte repeater, and I can't wait to hear the final ...
Again a nice proof (if needed) of JLC mastery
By: Mark in Paris : February 4th, 2014-02:28
This is a very nice exercize, which comes out of all the tourbillon and MR that brands can produce today. More is not always better. They tried here to bring something interesting while dealing with difficulty. To me, the work is totally coherent and uniq...
Thank you, Nicolas for a great report! :)
By: blomman Mr Blue : February 4th, 2014-03:08
Must say that so far - this is my favourite MR from JLC. There are a couple of design points I would perfer not to be included... Will look at / read your report a few more times before commenting on these. Best, my friend Blomman
Masterful post for masterful watch
By: Ares501 - Mr Green : February 4th, 2014-03:56
Something to re-read and re-discover over and over again as our dear friend blomman said there are some points with design In my case only one regret and that is "windows" on the dial without them it would look way much better for me but hey you can't sat...
!i was not very enthusiast with these windows, but
By: amanico : February 4th, 2014-10:47
When you see the rotor moving, that is somewhat fun, and living. Yes, indeed, this is tough to please to everybody, but it would be boring if so... Best, my dear Damjan. Nicolas
again..great reporting..
By: ocwatching : February 4th, 2014-13:08
I am kinnda in the same camp as Damjan...the windows on the dial.. I understand the rotor and bring "life" to a dial..but the tourby is already there.. however, I have always loved minute repeaters with the JLC MMR as my grail... the elimination of the br...
I have now read and re-read your report, Nicolas...
By: blomman Mr Blue : February 5th, 2014-11:03
Q? What is the size of this watch? Did you write it and I missed it..?! As for the rotor - I think it is a brilliant solution - love the open case back and the decoration on the bridges! But, I would have prefered smaller "holes" in the dial, or maybe onl...
You missed it. 41 mm big, 7, 9 mm thick. ;)
By: amanico : February 5th, 2014-11:25
You have to see it in the real, you will have a better idea. Now, as for the Tourbillon, I am not a big fan of that sophistication, so I can undertand your feeling, here. But an Hybris Mechanica has to offer more than one complication to deserve such an a...

...more easily digestable chunks. But praises aside, I must ask you one thing. I had to google the word "Maillechort" and what it seems to means is "nickle silver". Would you confirm this as correct? The level of finishing on this piece is awesome, the an...
Yes, nickel silver.
By: amanico : February 4th, 2014-14:07
The fact that we are in the market or not, for this Watch, is not the most important, indeed. The mastery, the maturity we can see through this Watch is to me the key point. I am just impatient to test, aesthetically and acoustically, the definitive Watch...

...for a great report on a lovely watch!
Thank you!
By: Tim_M : February 4th, 2014-04:47
Nicolas, Thank you for your outstanding overview. While all of the Hybris series watches are packaging marvels, this one seems to stand apart as the most impressive union of mechanical complexity and packaging prowess. Not only a worthy JLC Hybris, it's t...
Interesting thougths, Tim.
By: amanico : February 4th, 2014-23:13
This first step of an automatic movement in a high end JLC is something to be noticed, and I wonder if it is a new tendance, as I wrote in my original post. Now, I am pretty sure that some of the solutions used for the HM 11 will come in more affordable w...
Speechless! Can you hear me say something?....
By: Sandgroper : February 4th, 2014-05:08
No, I have to type:) Nicolas thank you very much for this review, absolutely fantastic. This watch is phenomenal, not only it is superb in its aesthetics and, like you wrote Nicolas the more you observe it, the more you appreciate it, it's like a slow "ly...
Thanks, Nicolas

Thanks for a great review

Wonderful review, and just an absolute superb watch. I think the dial isn't "cold" at first glance at all though. There is something about that grained finish that I think really makes it special. Thanks for giving us the more in depth details. Mark
My pleasure, Mark. Like you...

I am a BIG fan of these grained dials. Best, an thanks for your feedback. Nicolas
Question on the Balance...
By: aaronm : February 4th, 2014-10:22
From the pics, it looks like the spring is attached to one of the arms of the balance wheel and the collet, is that accurate? In that case, is the shaft of the balance wheel fixed, holding the bearing for the balance wheel, instead of being linked to the ...
Excellent review!

Too pity I won't have the chance to see - and hear! - this watch personally. It appears to be among the finest examples of thin complications ever made. thanks for this wonderfully detailed review! Marcus
Holy Cow, Man, that's one hell of..
By: elliot55 : February 4th, 2014-17:19
... a report. Just the stuff on how JLC did the gongs on that beauty is simply mesmerizing. What an amazing couple of pieces... and the macro shot of the tourbillon - Tres Magnifique. Have a great week, - Scott
Thanks for the review of an amazing watch.
By: rovermark : February 5th, 2014-02:06
I would love to get the chance to see one of these in person. I have to admit I'm not in love with the cutouts on the dial though. Specifically I wish the tourbillon wasn't visible from the front of the watch.
I have nothing more to add...
By: tudorctin : February 5th, 2014-06:21
Extraordinary watch! At this level and taking into account the price JLC doesn't need LE. I hope they will not "re-issue" it in LE in a different metal (see Master Minute Repeater). Thanks, Constantin
great review
By: donizetti : February 5th, 2014-09:29
thank you so much. I really like the ultra thin minute repeater concept, hope they will make a watch without the tourbillon in the same way sometime! Best regards Andreas
Thank you for the excellent review!

A very impressive addition to the top of JLC's range! A wearable masterpiece with nice modern touches, like the pusher lock and a bit of water resistance, is always pleasant to see. An automatic movement is an interesting distinction, but in this case the...
