Jaeger Lecoultre Master 8 Days: The Real Good Idea.

 By: amanico : July 30th, 2019-02:36
In 2003, Jaeger Lecoultre unveiled the Master 8 Days in rose gold and, so called Antoine Lecoultre in platinum: Limited to 200 pieces, in platinum. Then the very next years, we had a few limited series, in steel. Here " The Hour Glass " ( Japan ), 88 piec...

Nice retrospective.

I didn't know either of the limited series. Thank you. M4

Do you happen to have the reference number of The Hour Glass LE?

Thanks. I'm smitten by the day/night display which is similar or identical to the display on my old Master Hometime. Another watch I should not have sold. M4

I remember these.

JLC changed the look of their Master Control range with a thicker bezel and different hands. I like the look of the black one best although I’m not a fan of power reserve indicators. Nice to see them. Regards Kev.

Love the look of the JLC Cal. 877 movement.

+1 on the motto. Here are some for you.

A small variation... ...

Aaah, this one... I can even tell you that I prefer this one to the Antoine Lecoultre ( platinum only, with A Lecoultre'signature on the movement. I find it more " alive ", as you rightly described it.

Another detail I like a lot is the presence of the swan neck, which tends to disappear. Good to read you, Brian. A real and too rare pleasure! All the best, my friend, and thanks for your kind words, by the way. Nicolas

I always appreciated this one. I almost moved on the regular edition steel piece

many years ago, but would have jumped at the opportunity of the black dialed version. How about a new piece with a new case, the same calibre with time only and the power reserve on the back? That would make me leap for sure.

Well, you have another possibility...

Reverso Septantième: Or the more affordable Grande Date... Or, if you want the power reserve on the back... Best, Nicolas ...

This master 8 days is a very interesting JLC, i was really tempted by it while looking for my second JLC.

 By: eklektik : July 30th, 2019-11:18
The only think that stopped me was the Day/Night indicator for which I did not see a need nor a use. I went for the square version, the Reverso Grande Reserve and I do not regret my move. But the movement is very interesting, very up to date with today's ...

ThAt black dial version is so Jlc .. so cool

JLC was on top of the mountain in the first 10 years of the 2000.. and a bit after too. Miss those times Mo

Hard to believe

Unfortunately, it’s not a brand fault but the “groups”strategies that’s killed so many dreams. They kind of took the magic away, in name of... well you know. It will be difficult to make collectors dream again, and to attract new ones. Let’s see Ciao Nico...

Agree wholeheartedly

It was a buzzing time.. but feels like someone took advantage of people’s genuine love in horologery and killed the romance. Mo

The Master (Control) line really pops beautifully in black..

 By: Echi : July 30th, 2019-19:05
From the simple Master Control, Master Moon to the Perpetual to limited editions like this one. It just pops not because of the usual contrast that a black dial brings but pops with JLC class! Yep that ltd ed is really nice as well. Best, Echi

Love the 8 days movement

But I have to admit I am just not a fan of this mess of a dial design. One of the few misses by JLC from that era.

2 Things I really miss from JLC....

8-day movements (with less than 50 turns) true Compressors (not the recent, single-crown variants). I hope JLC will return to these wonders. JLC was kicking butt 10 years ago. -Dean

I came close to the platinum in the early 2000s
