What is your favourite Reverso?

 By: th.gr.ga : December 17th, 2019-01:54
With the plethora of different iterations of this iconic watch, I was wondering what are people's personal favourites, new or old? I have spent more time than I care to recollect drooling over some of the complications - the 65eme chronograph, the Eclipse...

You have made the best choice possible

 By: VinnieD : December 17th, 2019-02:38
I have the standard 1931 tribute and love it, even its case size. You are right saying that a 2-hander watch is a very calm object; it makes a real difference vs. a running seconds. Other options? In steel: - Memory (30 minutes chrono dial on the back sid...

Thank you

 By: th.gr.ga : December 17th, 2019-03:12
for the kind words. And those other options you mention are both fantastic. From a pure movement perspective, the retrograde chronograph is probably my favourite Reverso of all time. I know that others are formally more complicated- the gyrotourbillons an...

Here is a picture of the anniversary chrono

 By: th.gr.ga : December 17th, 2019-03:33
...the only thing I could imagine to possibly improve on this marvel would be making it a mono-pusher, French style, with a button in the middle of the crown. ...

Here are some pictures of the Red and some thoughts.

 By: amanico : December 17th, 2019-02:40
The pictures, first: Now some thoughts... Your TT Reverso 1931 US Edition is a marvel, with its syringe hands. I do hear your thoughts about the size of the case. As for myself, I have no problem with that. But I also have some strong favorites, outside t...

That Rouge...

 By: th.gr.ga : December 17th, 2019-03:06
..is still haunting me; sadly its not a watch I own. Thanks for the amazing pictures - even some I had not seen before! The 2016 duo is mesmerising - love the frosted dial, which reminds me of the old Yacht Master with its platinum dial; another favourite...

Indeed!

 By: th.gr.ga : December 17th, 2019-06:56
Like you also own a Polar 16570 (3186 transitional model) which I have grown to deeply adore for its perfect design. Funny, because I never expected to like it when I got it. It was a trade-in for a JLC Master Control that I agreed to thinking that it wou...

I am still hunting for a top condition Rouge!

 By: Seeks : December 21st, 2019-01:14
It is a really cool watch !

Rouge

 By: Tyo : December 17th, 2019-03:30
...

For me the JLC DNA is in the simple steel case back reverso

 By: EinPa : December 17th, 2019-05:54
The purpose of the flip face was to protect the watch whilst playing polo and for me this is the essence of JLC

Excellent choice!

 By: th.gr.ga : December 17th, 2019-06:45
Had almost forgotten that one. The depth and structure of the dial makes this one really stand out.

This is amazing...

 By: @lberti : December 17th, 2019-10:40
Wasnt there also a brown "tribute"?

Are u thinking about the gold-cased chocolate dial?

 By: th.gr.ga : December 17th, 2019-10:51
That one was on my radar as well. ...

Yes!

 By: @lberti : December 17th, 2019-11:10
Love this thing. 277.2.22? Reference.

Another sublime choice!

 By: th.gr.ga : December 17th, 2019-09:04
The green dial is so alluring; shame for the rest of us that they reserved it for such a small-run LE.

Btw

 By: th.gr.ga : December 17th, 2019-09:36
Your trio of Reversos is stunning. In addition to the London LE, I have a big weak spot for the Seconde Centrale as well.

Lucky you! [nt]

 By: amanico : December 17th, 2019-10:42

Probably bigger, though also smaller...

 By: blau : December 17th, 2019-09:02
The Tribute Ultra-Thin case doesn't appeal to me as much as I would have expected. I like my Reversos a little more bulbous, I guess! Though, hard as it is to believe, this watch is shorter lug-to-lug than the Tribute Ultra-Thin is. Here's my current #1, ...

A classic! And love the choice of strap!

 By: th.gr.ga : December 17th, 2019-09:21
Interesting about the size and height issue. While much may be down to individual preferences in this regard, I also think the rectangular shape of this watch makes it particularly sensitive to not only wrist size but also wrist shape.

wow what is that strap!? [nt]

 By: maikeru : December 19th, 2019-19:54

Thanks!

 By: blau : December 19th, 2019-19:58
It's a 'dogwood' suede from the Veblenist.

Hands...

 By: th.gr.ga : December 17th, 2019-09:33
Is anyone else pondering JLC's choice of using alpha hands on some of the most recent versions of the Reverso, including the Burgundy shared by Amanico above? In a rectangular watch the risk is always that the hands will look too short when in the vertica...

Another vote for the Rouge — simple and reserved and beautiful.

 By: Ano Nuevo : December 17th, 2019-09:37
Love it for its sedate quality. Its UNpolished hands and markers. Its lush, rich, deep red colors. Its lack of a second hand. Its manual movement. Its thinness. That watch says, “Yes, you may admire me if you want. I don’t care.” In contrast, the 2019 Bur...

The one I have :)

 By: jml_watches : December 17th, 2019-10:04
Very pleased to have an original Duo Been enjoying it for a long time. That's not to say I wouldn't like another & as you highlight - there's lots of choice. Two from the 60th anniversary series stand out - the 60eme with power reserve & date, the other b...

This US edition TTR1931 is the only reverso I have ever wanted.

 By: remarque : December 17th, 2019-12:02
I came to the party too late (2014); by the time I discovered the watch, they were no longer available. Only 100 were made, as I recall. I called JLC Boutique and 800 customer service to see if they could locate one buried at some remote boutique, but ala...

Thank you - I am.

 By: th.gr.ga : December 17th, 2019-12:37
I understand your frustration. There should be 200 in total - 100 with black and 100 with brown strap. Rare but nut in the league of the London and certain other special editions. Saw one on chrono24 just a few days but checking again it is now gone.

Mine says 277.8.62 (c: [nt]

 By: th.gr.ga : December 20th, 2019-01:01

And the 2011 release of the Reverso Tribute to 1931 US Edition is Reference 214.8.62.

 By: Ano Nuevo : December 20th, 2019-09:41
I mention this in case anyone does a future Google search trying to find the two different reference numbers. (The 2011 has the black stamped-”2011” Fagliano strap.) - A.N.

CORRECTION: 277.8.62 is reference number for 2011 Tribute to 1931 US Edition.

 By: Ano Nuevo : December 21st, 2019-17:19
My apologies, and thank you Remarque for finding the error in my posting above. (That mistaken reference number was for the burgundy Tribute Small Seconds.). So actually both the 2011 and 2012 versions of the TT 1931 have the SAME reference number, though...

the one Nicolas told me to buy : )

Here's that 85th anniversary tribute duo: ...

Yes! [nt]

 By: amanico : December 17th, 2019-14:08

Id say the tt 1931 regular edition and the 1948 fabrique en swiss version.

 By: Reuven Malter : December 17th, 2019-13:40
They have the most vintage feel! Cheers

1948? Did someone say “1948?”

 By: Ano Nuevo : December 17th, 2019-18:08
On a Coach strap. On the JLC strap used for the Blue Tribute Small Seconds. I think it might look best on a medium-brown calfskin. A.N. ...

I was expecting for long for someone to post this!

 By: Pun : December 17th, 2019-19:24
Yes it’s also very beautiful and desirable Reverso in my books. Let’s hope that JLC read here and bring out some pleasant surprise in 2021 for 90th Anniversary Reverso that resonates our feelings.

Thanks for posting! Its crazy how much better

 By: Reuven Malter : December 17th, 2019-21:02
This subdial looks like comparing to their current "modern" small seconds.

The eggshell-textured dial is quite nice, and

 By: Ano Nuevo : December 18th, 2019-00:09
I also like the unusually slender minute hand. 1948 must have been a good year!

Such a stunning watch

 By: th.gr.ga : December 18th, 2019-01:48
The combo of the textured dial and applied indices adds enormous depth to the dial (much like the 2016 duo) in a way that my own tribute doesnt have. First time I notice the hands - looks like the same hands used on some of the classic and GT models?

Here are some pictures...

 By: amanico : December 18th, 2019-01:50
...

Amazing. Thanks for the pictures. [nt]

The "coke" combo!

 By: th.gr.ga : December 18th, 2019-01:50
You are making me scout for a rouge as well.

I've gone through a few . . .

 By: drhr : December 17th, 2019-21:01
But these 2 are staying . . . ...

What a memory sir!!

 By: drhr : December 18th, 2019-08:59
Yes, I was told that it was indeed the last one sold, all the more astonishing since I'm in Hawaii and everything was done via email with regard to the acquisition.

😊 [nt]

 By: Pun : December 18th, 2019-09:03

+1 on his collection. [nt]

Just wow!

 By: th.gr.ga : December 18th, 2019-01:54
What an exclusive set. Are those custom-made straps?

Another Sun-Moon!

 By: th.gr.ga : December 20th, 2019-01:05
Really enjoy the dial on this one - congratulations, assuming its your own.

Oh yes. All mine. ;-) [nt]

Gorgeous and rare! Only one problem....

 By: Ano Nuevo : December 20th, 2019-09:23
The verso side, showing the lovely decorated movement, is so attractive that I’d never view the recto. “The time? Why it’s— OMG look at that movement! Isn't that beautiful? Uhhhh, sorry, i got distracted. What was your question?” Ano ”Easily distracted by...

YES

 By: maikeru : December 20th, 2019-18:35
I think this is one of the best reverso dials - the contrast on the greys makes it seem six feet deep. But I often (more so than not?) wear it verso-up ;-)

I feel similarly, attracted to the more simpler two hand or three hands versions.

 By: Seeks : December 21st, 2019-01:17
The Rouge in your photo is a really a cool one,... one one hope to add one day Here are my two go-to Reversos Best regards ...

Oh my! The Enamel Blue...

 By: th.gr.ga : December 21st, 2019-05:47
That is a very rare bird as well - 50 pieces if memory serves. I am a huge fan of enamel dials and your picture really brings out the depth of the guilloche - lucky you!

many thanks for your kind words !

 By: Seeks : December 21st, 2019-05:52
and you have a perfect memory.. 50 it is. warmest regards for the festive season

A stunning pair of go-to Reversos!

Interesting gray suede strap on the blue enamel, too. Nice. - A.N.

Oh thank you my friend 🙏
