If you can find a good deal, buy

I would play devil's advocate and say that irrelevant of brand, model and year, if you find a good deal you should buy what you like.

What I mean by this is - research, know your game/target purchase and then trawl. If the MSRP is X and you know that second-hand market is usually X-40% and happen to find one full set/complete with box, papers, etc for X-55%... this is easy: you should not lose a lot of money enjoying what you like. Watches as investment in my books qualifies as "minimizing loss" or rather ensuring lowest possible cost of ownership while wearing.

My guess is Amvox Aston Martins are not really collectibles, but are they? Are Amvox1's, for example, collectibles today?

90 per cent of watches are not collectible.

It is a rough number, you got my point. For the moment. But who knows, in 50 years? You never know. Some facts: The Amvox One in SS was made in several thousands of pièces ( something, my guess, around 6 to 8 000 ). In Ti: 1000. The R version ( 44 mm ) 40...

Why worry if they are collectible or not? Get one if you like it and more importantly enjoy it for what it is. Great thing about JLC is that there are other wonderful pieces in their collection that I'm sure you will find interesting. Are you considering ...

thx

Thx for that ;) I already have a JLC, a Squadra GMT, for wearing and enjoying. But I like to "invest" in some pieces that would at least hold value, even with inflation (I know the argument of watches are not investments, but I disgress, coz some are!)......

I do ...and I don't.

I just couldn't "invest"in a watch I hated. A part of my "investment" return is the time the watch spends on my wrist....that is the true return for me. Now, don't get me wrong, I am also very much in favour of not throwing money away....so why not invest...

watches I love

Ok... I see your point... case in point... I love the IWC Pilot Perpetual in gold and brown strap... I like the blue Plastiki... I love the moonphase Lange1... I do like a vintage Sub on a vintage calf... I love the all glass Atmos... like them or not, an...

i honestly don't know...

.......will Microsoft rise in value over the next few years? What about 10yr treasury yields...will they rise or fall? These are mainstream investments and who knows what will happen to them. The same uncertainty must also hold for something like a vintag...

ok, got it.
