I had the privilege to tour the Soundmaker Exhibit in NYC yesterday. This is a special event hosted by Jaeger-LeCoultre in New York City from 21-September-2021 through 06-October-2021. Please visit if you can! Located in the trendy and luxurious Meatpacki...  

And they provided so many "consultations" and "solutions" for other brands too, including the big ones like Vacheron Constantin, Patek Philippe, and Audemars Piguet. It's a pity that Jaeger-LeCoultre doesn't get the recognition it deserves.

And which one sounded best to you?

When they make these cases, they're sealed so the watches look pristine and the cases have no dust. To allow handling of the watch, even handling with gloves, would cause a lot of risks (droppage, loss, damage) that would prevent future visitors from bein... 

How is it a sound exhibition if you can't hear how they sound? Very strange. Do they have speakers with sounds of each movement, or a headphone 'tour' with the sound of these timepieces?

I don't think they have any of that! No audio tour was offered to me (probably because nobody wants to share headphones during COVID). Let's say you're a person who's never heard of Jaeger-LeCoultre nor doesn't know what a minute repeater even is... In ot... 

"I am here at the SOUNDMAKER EXHIBITION and I have a reasonable expectation to hear some sound, can you please find some watch to make some sound for me?" And the JLC employees will probably need to figure out something.

Overall amazing to see this collection of watches but missing two huge parts of the experience - the animation and the sound of these watches. JLC marketing continues to be lost and living in a time gone by. They treat the watches like antiques - art - pa... 

A very fair review! A beautiful event, but a lot of missed opportunities, and it's not clear for someone who doesn't really know watches...

And I just finished the $160 workshop. You should try to see if you can get a timeslot that fits with your schedule. It's awesome.

The wine tastings at a winery that I'm a member of is $125. Which I think is a little high, since a $125 dinner (without wine) at a nice restaurant is more impressive and enjoyable than a $125 wine tasting. BUT, I'd definitely say this JLC event is a much...

I’m sure that you had a delicious dinner..

The pomme frites were too skinny. I like them thicker so there’s more fluffy potato inside. The rib eye steak was pretty good. But the best was the company. Being able to see a friend for dinner.

We had some special showings with JLC and had the pleasure of handling some very special pieces. Met Patrick there as well. ...  

Also enjoyed a sail around Manhattan with JLC. Great hosts! ...  

And that workshop was a lot of fun!
