E159 in solid gold

Feb 08, 2022,16:40 PM

Look what the cat dragged in! An unusual combination of an almost military dial and an 18k solid gold case. In almost mint condition from 1945-1946. Our dear Blomman had posted a photo of a 1945 catalog offering this version for 470 CHF. The steel version was 110 so somebody paid quite a premium for this beauty.

I hope it’s ok that I borrowed the last photo from Blommanwatchreport.com

You are in good company - not a single collector I have spoken to has ever seen this ref in gold. "Rare" has become an abused word in the watch world but it certainly applies to this piece.

Correct!

I recognize the name Blomman, any idea if he’s still active? I seem to remember him posting rather frequently years ago.

Ahh I see
