Thank you for this post!
That Reverso Géographique has been in my dreams for...well, since about 1999 when I discovered it in the JLC catalogue (now gone, purged by a girlfriend with so many other catalogues from the time...argh!) and immediately fell in love.
The solid class of the ‘front’ side with its symmetrical interest from Day and Night at the top to the round small seconds with its guillochage at the bottom; then on the ‘reverse’ side, the colour contrast and those Belle Époque numerals, with the beautiful typography for the lettering of the well-considered complication...yes, yes, yes!
Truly one of the most beautiful watches out there, to my eyes at least. Not that I don’t love the others here - I do - along with the Sun Moon (I’ll have mine in white gold please, black face, brown strap - thank you very much), the Art Deco, and the Latitude.
But today we have a very different situation: the modern Reverso is mostly a pedestrian thing (apart from a few small editions), with dials that to my eyes appear a poor imitation of those beautifully-printed and guilloché dials of 20 years ago. If only JLC could find its way back to what I see as its heyday, just before Richemont’s purchase of the company from Mannesmann...
I hope someday you chance upon one of those Reversos of yesteryear, sitting quietly watch dealer’s window, and it will come home with me. In the meantime, I will enjoy dreaming, aided by posts like this.
Best
E.
