So I ordered a few Santoni straps and they are great, my only issue is that the stock strap that came with my Portugieser is a bit longer on the short end and shorter on the long end than the ones that came in: As you can see from the picture the straps w...  

This is by design. IWC deployant straps are designed to keep the deployant clasp centered on the wrist. So a shorter "head" strap and longer "tail" strap will keep the clasp away from the side of the wrist. More comfortable this way. The original strap wa... 

Actually the original strap also came on a deployant, both have shorter straps just one is significantly shorter. I was thinking there might be two types of IWC deployants

IWC introduced the "butterfly" type deployant in the last couple years and offers it on some of their newer Portugieser models. This type sits more centered on the wrist and I think requires the longer "head" strap: Photo from eBay ...  

I will have to head to the IWC boutique and find out. Problem is it’s a 2 hours drive ...
