I do not collect watches that are chronographs. Why? I can not life with a hand that standing still at the 12 O’clock position. The solution could be, i let count the counter for eternity. Or, i let a watch maker remove the counter hand. For timing activi...

100% with you on that.

I have never understood why they are so popular. I doubt more 1% of people actually use it for what it is intended for. It looks good though.

You hit the nail with the hammer on the head

Your quote ‘ 1% of people actually use it for what it is intended for’ is bulls eye. Maybe it is our British and conservative nature. Maybe our translation to the old church clock, or shall i say Big Ben. I see a watch as a miniature version of a clock as...

I'd say even 1% is a massive over-estimate.

At best they are used to time boiling an egg or brew tea.

I think we agree at the fullest

Albeit we are in a kind of community where chronograph fans think different. Sure, some chronographs are looking very good. I can not ignore that. A Hublot Big Bang is one of them. The Breitling Navitimer, i can not wear an other Breitling if it is not a ...

Beautiful watch

But probably would have been talked about more if it weren't 46mm, which immediately takes it off a lot of people's lists.

Probably because the movement is too big?

The Big Pilot Monopusher is also 46 mm.

That's true

 By: SayNo2Babies : January 15th, 2022-17:45
But it's a sports watch. Maybe less interest in a dress watch in that size

Other than 'it's way too huge'...

 By: mdg : January 7th, 2022-18:51
...that was my first thought.

Even 44 mm is too big for a Portugieser.

By: India Whiskey Charlie : January 7th, 2022-19:02

Even 40 mm portugieser 3 hander still wear very large with that very slim dial and lots of negative space

 By: hoseachandra : January 8th, 2022-05:44
I think portugieser is at its best at 36-38 mm. Of course , probably IWC does not have medium movement to put it inside. Maybe the entry level caliber 32xxxx

That would be nice indeed

True.

Agreed! But only was available in gold...

...totally agree : )

Good point.

By: India Whiskey Charlie : January 7th, 2022-22:05

Maybe because its just too big ? :)

 By: hoseachandra : January 8th, 2022-05:40
Seriously, 46 mm with slim bezel....only ones with very big wrist can pull it off.
