No I did not buy it new. It has just movement overhaul from Richmont. It now has a 1 year service warranty.

I have purchased the other BP you see in the pic below , BP Petite Prince , brand new from my AD that sent the 5002 watch for service.

Was this after a full wind?

I had a similar issue with a brand new Portuguese 5007 and had a moment of sadness/rage, but a watchmaker friend advised me to give it a full wind (wind to full reserve plus 7 additional turns for whatever reason) and then letting it run down. Seemed to d...

Why does it need to go to 0?

I have owned 3 big pilots. On All of them

the power reserve goes to zero when completely discharged. That is the way the movement is supposed to work. If it does not then there is something wrong inside the movement. Ergo , it needs to go back and get fixed. Look at the pic below. Both of my BPs....

Yes the last wind was full but not the extra 7 winds.

I guess I will try that and see if it works. Thank you.

Yeah, I have no idea why that would make a difference, but it seemed to for me

Thereafter, the watch worked as normal. But otherwise I agree that the reserve needs to run all the way down. So frustrating. Thanks, Brian

I wound it up fully plus 8 turns. I will see if that works. I will report back in 7 days.

Thanks for all the help. I hope it works ...

Looking Good C! Sorry to hear about the power reserve.. bummer to hear.

I hope the extra winding helps

8 day movement

 By: roundel : September 27th, 2021-17:55
These BP movements are really 8 day movements with a mechanism to stop them after 7 days. Since they are automatics, the main spring has a ā€˜Yā€™ at the outer end that acts as a clutch against the inner circumference of the barrel. It may be that by ā€œover wi...

Aligns with a previous post above: Wanted to give you an update on the whole situation ...Took my watch to the AD, they sent it to Texas..Texas didn't find any issues, but clarified, that while wounding the watch, after reaching the 7 day mark, one has to...

Thank you very much. The test is in progress.

I appreciate your help very much. Iā€™m sure Iā€™ll get it figured out.

Oh interestingā€¦ as my own personal experience

 By: Darron : September 28th, 2021-17:36
With winding both the 8 day Panerais and this 7 day Autoā€¦. I always ā€œover windā€ until I hear the clutch ā€œclick overā€ and donā€™t rely on the actual ā€œfull gaugeā€ā€¦ so I always go past the full settingā€¦. Obviously I donā€™t over wind on the movements that have a...

No it did not unfortunately! The watch actually stopped after I did 8 winds past full wind. Likely a mistake.

My 5002 is back in Texas at the Richemont service center. I had my AD talk to the manager at the service center to look after my watch to make sure they correct the problems. I will let you know when I get it back. Should be in a week or two.

I have my 5002 back from service.

Seems to be working now. The power reserve indicator now registers Zero when the watch has stopped. I will see how well it keeps time and if it returns back to zero after winding. ...

Fingers crossed
