For the pleasure of the eyes: One of my favorite IWC Portuguese, the Minute Repeater.

Along with the Jubilée, and the 7 Days Ref 5001. I would rate the Jubilée and the Minute Repeater above the 5001, for their manual winding movements, though. That's the IWC I like! Best, Nicolas ...

Thanks for looking!

Lovely Nic.

Is this the same minute repeater that Thomas has? It is beautiful.

Correct!

Correct.

I have the second generation in Platinum (which is not the best case material for a MR as we know 😉). Currently on the market is the third generation. #3 has no longer the beautiful classical movement. Easily recognizable by the fact that the small second...

Hi 😊

No, I have the successor (the second generation). It still has the old, but revised movement 95290 (small seconds also at 9), sapphire glass and some other technical improvements. But I find the old IWC signature very romantic and ideal for this kind of w...

Gorgeous.

OMG never saw this amazing beauty before. Love it.

Pleasure!

I actually prefer this version with the "old style" Iinternational Watch Co written in script vs. the newer one with IWC on it

 By: montres1 : May 2nd, 2021-15:28
The major drawback in my humble opinion is that the repeater mechanism is hidden under the dial...

Me too.

 By: amanico : May 2nd, 2021-16:52

You are right.

 By: MTR : May 2nd, 2021-18:44
Normally a Minute Repeater has the strike function integrated in the movement. So usually you see the hammers and gongs from the back of the watch. The con of these movements is that they are rather delicate and require a huge amount of fine adjustment. T...

Beautiful watch, Nicolas!

And I like this older reference better than the new one with IWC in non-italic font. It just looks classier.

I especially love this first iteration...

With the classic script on the dial. Kent

The Jubilee is definitely more "budget friendly"!

You can be really proud of your Jubilee!! Best Thomas

Aaaaaaaaahhhhhh!

What a beauty!! I love this very romantic old logo and the warm tone due the plexi of this first generation. A marvel. A milestone. A wonder. Best Thomas

All these minute repeaters are amazing watches. I never knew IWC made this complicated and elegant watch until I saw Thomas’ a few years ago.

By: Costa (aka Connie) : May 2nd, 2021-20:05
I like discussing the subtleties of these watches. Figuring out which is the best is a fools errand however. That is like like trying to figure out which Ferrari is the best. They are all incredible time pieces with their own Characteristics that make the...

Very wise words, dear cpmd!

For those who have not heard the brilliant chiming, the beginning of this video has it in nice quality:

The microphone placement probably makes the sound in the video louder than what you'd hear in real life

 By: mhz vph : May 3rd, 2021-14:51
Nevertheless I thought the chime in the video was very nice. And off course, nothing beats pulling that slide yourself!

Indeed!

 By: amanico : May 3rd, 2021-16:46

Mine sounds like on the video, perhaps

 By: MTR : May 3rd, 2021-17:59
a tad more quiet. I’m sure this is due to its Platinum case. Best Thomas

Did you own

 By: MTR : May 3rd, 2021-21:20
the first generation?

Yes!

 By: amanico : May 3rd, 2021-21:21

Maybe there were improvements in the second generation?

 By: MTR : May 4th, 2021-19:16
It would be interesting if the construction and/or architecture of the modular system was changed. The movement is the same.

I doubt so...
