Review of the optional bracelet for the IWC MARK XVIII
Let me start by saying that I have owned the Mark before. The same le petit prince edition to be exact. The difference now is that I chose to give the bracelet version a try and it fixed the only gripe I ever had which is the lug span across the wrist. The watch never sat correctly while on strap with pin buckle.
After wearing this watch religiously for weeks I have come to the conclusion that this bracelet elevates the entire watch into a higher tier. This is really interesting as I have never experienced such quality, comfort and engineering all in one.
The engineering/design in the clasp and sizing is legendary. The way the links are designed give such a fluid feel. Absolutely no metallic sounds. No rattles. No squeaks. No holes on the side of the metal. Proportions are perfect. NO TAPER! That’s right! This model does not taper which is perfect for a “toolish” design. A taper would have actually made it feel more dressy. The push buttons are perfect size for the claps and have no give. Usually they move around on other watches. Not here!
The finishing on the le petit version is also awesome. Polished and brushed to perfection. The weight distribution is on point as well. I think the watch needs some heft that one just can’t get while on the strap. This weight is also the reason for the comfort as the bracelets moves around the wrist fluidly. It’s kind of like a GS as far as fit but much much much higher quality.
This is one of the few times I can say the extra premium over the strap totally changes the watch. It elevates it way past entry level. I will go as far as saying it’s just as comfortable as a Rolex jubilee which in my opinion is the gold standard.
The only thing I can nit pick is the finishing used to have perlage on the inside of the folding piece and they now use brushing instead. I believe the movement inside is also unfinished like they used to. It’s all good though and not a real problem!

I have said it, and say it again : IWC make one of the best bracelet in the industry.
