Maybe “Big Pilot Reduced”

Jul 19, 2021,15:50 PM

For me, a Big Pilot should have a 7 day power reserve, be big and chunky, have an iron cage, and a date. So my suggestion is give a name that respects the traits that made the 5002 an icon, while recognizing that the crown, font, and case shape are drawn from the original.

I have a BP Miramar, and it certainly pushes the boundaries with its color scheme, lack of rivets, and case material. It too is challenged with a name that seems a bit off with the Top Gun Miramar descriptors.

I happen to see and try on these watches at the boutique yesterday (no pictures were allowed). I first tried the blue with the bracelet and it was super comfy as are all IWC bracelet watches. Fairly light and sized right but the bracelet just didn't seem ...

Best release by IWC in a very long time

I too had the occasion to try it, on both bracelet and strap, black and blue dial, and it is fantastic. I am a big fan of IWC for many years, particularly those models that came out under the direction of Guenter Bluemlein in the late 90's. Then, I moved ...

I like the BP43 black dial version too

I have a 5002, still with its fish crown. I am as well a big fan of the Big Pilot. I hear what the article says. I share many opinions in all the answers. From a simple personal buying point of view, I would buy the BP 43 with the black dial even if it lo...

The Big Pilot watches ought to be evaluated with clearer context.

Aesthetic judgements are in the eye of the beholder but what is not in the eye of the beholder is the fact that the series of Big Pilot watches which are descended from the B-Uhr watches were themselves commissioned by and for the Nazis to serve and to ad...

Although I do think the 43 mm new big pilot is nice I still love the standard classic 46 mm. I hope everyone has a relaxing Saturday morning. Good morning. ...

Good article review... Agree that calling it a Big Pilot is iffy.

I think these models would make the Big Pilot even more popular. well done IWC! the increased water resistance and quick change for the strap is awesome too.

Antimagnetism

I agree with the group that this watch has a lot of great attributes. I’ve had the chance to try it, and would certainly consider buying it. The lack of antimagnetism is slightly irksome to me, as I consider that characteristic to be a fundamental part of...
