You have no excuse my friend!

The iphone takes exceedingly good photos! And yes, the purists here take some excellent photos apart from me. I do not possess a smart phone (I know, I know, I am a living dinosaur! ).
Ming Thien is most intriguing as he is a genius and perfectionist, having graduated at 16 (yes, you read that right) from Oxford University majoring in Physics. He has a passion for photography, and in typical Ming fashion, excelled in this field. While indulging in his other passion of watch collecting, he noticed that many watches did not offer great value for money especially 10 to 15 years ago which witnessed steep rise in watch prices. He then embarked on designing his own watches and started Ming together with a few other friends. Although designed in Malaysia (Ming's country of origin and abode), the watches are made in Switzerland using various type of movements from a modified ETA 2824 to a Schwartz Etienne. The company only sells via the internet hence the lower pricing of their watches compared to many of its competitors.
I bought my Lang & Heyne Friedrich lll a few months before Marco Lang left the company. I had met Marco on a number occasions at Salon QP in London and it took me 4 years before deciding to buy one of his beautifully finished watches. When I heard Marco had left, I too felt disappointed as I bought the watch not just because of its beauty but because of Marco Lang, his passion, his ethos. That is the thing with independents, we buy more than just the watch. I know Marco is working closely with Stefan Kudoke on a new project which I am looking forward to. Meanwhile, Lang & Heyne continue to make great watches just without Marco at the helm.
