My first independent

I was entranced by the guilloche dial on this Laine and it was available as a preowned piece. I’m having a custom guilloche dial made for the Kudoke 1, but seeing as that’s going to take a few months to build, I needed something to scratch the itch! ...

Congrats! [nt]

Rock... Congratulations with .... is it your grail watch? Thinking i do not thought of indie watches. This maybe could be a collectors direction. We’ll see, while you have a great time with a special watch.

No

Not a grail. Not sure if I have a grail.

What I particularly love

About these independent watchmakers is that I could have another dial made for this watch in the future. At one point, I think salmon with blued hands and blued indices would look super cool.

The perfect wrist companion . . .

How do you know Art ? [nt]

True story. Back when I was on the US Olympics beer-drinking team a long, long time ago . . .

. . . (actually not, but you get the idea) my pal Scott, who occasionally posts here, was on holiday in New Orleans. Apparently the oldest tavern in the Western Hemisphere, Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop . . . [photo credit: Wikipedia / Flickr photographer Lob...

Lafitte’s has a very particular odor

Did you get that / remember that ?

I've never been to New Orleans, much less . . .

. . . Lafitte's. My pal Scott was there once . . . I'll have to ask him if he remembers.

ah I see now

He may know what I am referring to though ! It is a sort of 200 year old pete moldy smell. Very distinctive, not good!

That’s a great story !...

Excellent choice, thats a gorgeous dial . Very interesting guilloche and amazing dial color. Wear it in best of health. Looking forward to see your Kudoke 1 . But remember indies are very addictive 😉
