What a post, Gary!
I do believe the Antiqua is a very historically significant piece. It's influence is clear throughout the world of Contemporary Horology. Anyone who was paying attention in the early days (late 90's, early 00's) has to acknowledge this.
I just wish Vianney would come up with some new creations or update this one. As you say, it does have fairly dainty proportions for today's tastes. Sometimes I think of the HM3 Sidewinder as a modern Antiqua. Certainly, as you mention, the piece had a major impact on Max. Would love to see Vianney create a similar masterpiece with case space to really work magic.
All the best and wear it in good health,
Steve

I understand your point on the "cargo hold" date display -- perhaps it's my aging eyes. The conundrum is that I would not want to increase the size of the date porthole, so there you have it. I was quite disappointed not to get the winding box, but will c...

I agree with you -- as I noted in my write-up, I think that the Janvier gives a hint to how to apply the same design ethic in a more contemporary way. That said, the Antiqua is a thing of (delicate) beauty! Will be interested to see in a couple of weeks h...

I feel like I am there with you observing this watch, or sometimes right back in Vianney's workshop. Easily the best review I can remember of the Antiqua, especially standing back with the benefit of time to compare with some more modern creations. Though...

My search for this one has been a poorly kept secret, for sure! Thanks once again to the members of this forum who assisted in making it happen. I think one of the reasons I'm so happy about this watch is that I had always assumed it would be beyond my re...

In terms of the details, for many of them I was able to draw on the many excellent existing articles and reviews that have been done over the years, but there were several things that just came from observing the piece over the course of a week. I do love...

Your review and excellent photos filled in many additional details about the antigua. I viewed, handled it, tried it on, ogle and admired the watch in June but you cannot remember all the attributes or lack off in just one all too brief encounter.Enjoy it...

...now I've gotten you into trouble with the Lord! Just to add to my burdens Thanks very much for your note, Horo. It took me a number of evenings this week and a fair amount of my Saturday to concoct this post -- perhaps one of the few benefits of being ...

One of the most enjoyable posts I've ever read -- not just because the photos are breathtaking and it is informative, but because of the considered personal observations. Two observations as to your observations: I completely agree about the clasp and had...

for sharing this very informative and detailed account of the Antigua. This kind of post can only come from someone with true passion and enthusiasm for haute horology. It's an infectious disease that spreads and should carry a warning sign before clickin...
