What a Night!

 By: samwan : July 10th, 2018-08:41
This is what happens when a bunch of watch nuts meet... We decided to adopt a theme of "Independents Night". I have to sheepishly admit this is only a portion of our collection... Stars of the evening are: Dufour. Roger Smith (Series Two and George Daniel...

Looks like a dream GTG imho 😱

 By: Watchonthewrists : July 10th, 2018-09:01
I see all of my fav independent watches on the table 👌🏻. Hope (must be 😉) you had a great time .thanks for the pics

We definitely had a great time

 By: samwan : July 10th, 2018-12:10
Good friends, fantastic food (and wine), marvelous timepieces

Such a group of friends spares you trying to buy all your dream watches, you can enjoy them anyway at these great meetings

 By: BjoernM21 : July 10th, 2018-09:45
Thanks for sharing this treasure trove with us. If only one of you could start an interview series, asking one collector of this group at a time to present one or two of his watches and tell a bit about them, like why they were bought and what is of parti...

Good idea

 By: samwan : July 10th, 2018-12:04
Yes, every piece has a story for sure...

I have to say that might be the most impressive GTG collection I've seen yet.

 By: TheMadDruid : July 10th, 2018-10:09
I'd love to see the results of you and other Lange collectors getting together.

Haha

 By: samwan : July 10th, 2018-12:08
That will happen in a week's time when Lange unveils the new 1815 Tourbillon with enamel dial

I am just speechless!

 By: afl : July 10th, 2018-10:51
I am agree with Padj. Definitely this is the post that killed me. This is beyond everything.

We did not know what everyone will bring

 By: samwan : July 10th, 2018-12:14
But the end result surpassed our expectations and there were no duplications

Alec was scheduled to come

 By: samwan : July 10th, 2018-12:15
But had to cancel at the last minute...not sure about the other two...

Bob and Ted...

Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice. You even noted the "reason" they were absent. MTF ...

So which one of us...

...should be flattered and which one of us should be concerned??? Cheers pplater.

We should all be worried

Omg it's too much for my eyes!

Can't wait for the answers to your questions. Best, Max

 By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : July 10th, 2018-12:24
All the watches are fantastic, of course the Dufour, Daniels, and Roger W Smith. It's wonderful the number of FPJs, that anniversary tourbillon is perfect.

It is my fault that I did not bring the

Sovereign Tourbillon titanium, otherwise we have a full set...

See what I mean?

Wow! Absolutely amazing!

 By: asonstuf : July 10th, 2018-12:28
Was the person who brought the GS punished for their rebellious decision?

Hehe...no

 By: samwan : July 10th, 2018-12:43
In fact quite a few love the GS

Grand Seiko

 By: dcoffe01 : July 10th, 2018-15:38
That’s the SBGD202. At this table, it is an excellent stealth watch choice.

Eagle eyes :) [nt]

 By: samwan : July 10th, 2018-17:21

Oh...my...God...

 By: NoH : July 10th, 2018-12:33
I’m blown away by all of the amazing timepieces! What a fantastic GTG. All the best, Niall

Indeed, apart from work from the masters

 By: samwan : July 10th, 2018-12:46
The various versions of the FPJ (ruthenium dial, black label, titanium models, MOP) were mouth-watering

That dinner costs millions of $

 By: matto1 : July 10th, 2018-14:12
What a great group!

The food looks good :)

 By: Jay (Eire) : July 10th, 2018-17:22
FPJ is well represented alright, nice to see the Vagabondage series in full almost. Also see Lang & Heyne, something I'm very curious to see in the metal myself. Incredible table shot, wishing I was there!

Next time we will bring the full L & H contingent

 By: samwan : July 10th, 2018-18:41
There are four more models in our group other than the Georg, which seemed very popular.... It is a wonderful brand and you won't be disappointed when you see the timepieces in the flesh...

Yes, it is not small

Hmmm, that doesn't look too promising for me!

 By: Jay (Eire) : July 11th, 2018-18:10
Thanks for posting. It does seem a little on the larger side. Hoping to seem one in the metal either when in Asia next (I know there are a few in Singapore and maybe Hong Kong so hopefully a friendly Purist will oblige) or when Marco and team come to the ...

That Dafour and the Laurent Ferrier watches kill me

 By: emcquillan : July 10th, 2018-20:28
What a line up. Must have been an incrediblly fun night. Thanks for sharing.

Wow, wow and let's wow again

 By: Hororgasm : July 10th, 2018-22:04
This is the sort of GTGs that I like! Hope all is well. Best, Horo

You mean you weren’t there, Horo?...

 By: pplater : July 11th, 2018-17:29
With so many quality Indies in one place, one would have been forgiven for assuming that you were there and had taken a couple of your watchboxes along for a night out. Clearly you haven’t (yet) cornered the market after all! Cheers, pplater.

Sam has long dominated the scene, rightfully

 By: Hororgasm : July 11th, 2018-20:54
I was just the Jacobite Pretender to the throne....😁 Best, Horo

May I join the next GTG if I can name 90% of the pieces haha?

 By: kykw : July 10th, 2018-23:46
Looks to be a dream GTG! Thanks for sharing with us. And good to see the GS and Habring2 playing with the big boys. Ken

You are more than welcome. The Habrings were there because

 By: samwan : July 11th, 2018-00:59
one of the participants is the official dealer for Gronefeld and Urban Jurgensen, as well as Habring 2. As for the GS, well....

I eagerly look forward to it. Thanks, Sam.

 By: kykw : July 11th, 2018-21:17
I believe the dealer you mentioned was the same gentleman who just helped me order a new watch. It's a model I see from your amazing group photo. My incoming piece will have some slight modification. Ken

Wow...

 By: samwan : July 11th, 2018-23:12
Congratulations! Post some pictures when the watch arrives.

This is the most amazing table I've seen recently.

 By: sleepy_templar : July 11th, 2018-00:46
Blown away!!!

We will up the ante for the next GTG

 By: samwan : July 11th, 2018-01:02

Indeed

 By: samwan : July 11th, 2018-02:37
Good food, great company, wonderful timepieces....what more can we ask for?

Epic GTG

 By: SALMANPK : July 11th, 2018-01:10
And must have been so fun to talk about the pieces however no Ressence or Vianney Halter to be seen which I personally love. S

Believe it or not

We spend more time talking about the impending semi final than horology

Promise to take better ones for our next gathering

If I remember correctly

 By: samwan : July 11th, 2018-20:39
This is the third Independent Night (in six or seven years) organized by group of collectors. Needless to say, it gets better and better

Truly astounding grouping

 By: right_wrist : July 11th, 2018-19:56
A question for you... did Patek not fit into the "Independent" theme? I'm not much of a Patek guy myself but was interested to know if this group of collectors is less interested in Patek or if independent really meant very small independent brands (exclu...

Good question

 By: samwan : July 11th, 2018-20:37
We posed the same question among ourselves and decided PP doesn't really fit into the definition. We may organized a PP night at some point though...

No Opus.. ? : ( [nt]

 By: Teacher Yang : July 12th, 2018-12:18

WoW Shifu, good question.
