Well, the urge to go a little off the reservation has been satisfied.

Thanks to both Ron and John for their counsel a number of months ago, and to others that responded to a previous thread about this one.
Earlier this week I finally picked up the 105-CT Streamliner. Housing what is by now the signature Urwerk wandering hours display, this time the carrousel holding the hours reworked so that it's completely open. With a "hood" that flips up you have what I think is the best of both worlds; a clean focus on the wandering hours with the hood down and easy access to see the satellites, movement etc with the hood up.
While I think the Ti/Polished Steel model best highlights the watch's design/ case, for me the Ti/PVD Steel combination is just more wearable day to day. So far, and with the benefit of either short sleeves or being otherwise casually dressed I've found it very easy to wear, it's very light on the wrist and despite the size the absence of lugs mean the strap just hugs the wrist. Perhaps with the height it'll never be a watch worn under a short cuff, and besides it's a little too out there for business / formal settings.
Some quick pictures below showing the "hood" up and down. I'll try to take some better snaps at a later point and perhaps provide some updates on day-to-day wear.
A wrist shot.
