Visit to The Clockmakers of London exhibit
Feb 22, 2020,16:17 PM
Recently took one of my more British watches to the Science Museaum in London to visit the Clockmakers of London exhibit.
Quite interesting and - I know, not surprising - lots of content related to British watchmakers. Fascinating to learn so much about the history of clocks and watches and to see just how current and ongoing the contributions from this city are to the development and history of time devices.
While not as large as I expected, the story is well told. I was personally thrilled to see so many children actually interested in the pieces and the stories. None were bored and several were telling their parents about the pieces. Speaks well for the future I hope.
Harrison’s #5 is there as is Frodsham, Daniels, and Pratt for the current and present.
Along with a visit to Greenwich Observatory (required in my book) and to the Frodsham shop to see their new wristwatches (tell Richard I say hello), this is easily one of the more enjoyable horological activities in London - other then acquiring a new piece!
