URWERKing

I’m more than a year into the 105 CT now and this watch continues to command the position of most regularly worn watch.

While some watches will sit for weeks, and I’m sorry to say months in some cases, the 105 sees daylight pretty much weekly, and usually a couple of times a week.

My first love, and what fits personally, are watches which are less formal, or sporty (Sea-Dweller, Sub, Nautilus, Daytona, in the past Royal Oak, G-Shock and Sistem51/Swatch).  Day to day those type of watches will always get first call.  The Urwerk has crept in there and has become a go-to because of its informal (even if not sporty) design and feel on the wrist.

The fact that it’s unconventional is a significant factor too.  After years of round, there’s a urge for something different.  (For what it’s worth, and I thought much about this, I don’t think this “different” factor is something that will wear off.  Part of the choice of Urwerk is that this particular design has been around for many years and still in my opinion looks fresh and different).

On the wrist today, and many days.

I can understand why it gets a lot of wrist time 👌🏻😘

Indeed. And the basic design has remained relevant for many years now.

This is something not all that easy when operating outside of the norm.

For certain a horological UFO.

A benefit in many cases as it flies under many radars, even those of someone with more than a passing interest in watches.

Agreed. Well said. [nt]

Spaceship

Looks like a spaceship I can understand why some are deeply attracted to it

I can’t say it was an instant attraction or appreciation.

I first had a 103, an earlier / original take on this reference, on the wrist about 7-8 years ago. It was too out there for me at the time but over the years with familiarity it became less so. In addition the design evolved gradually from that first 103 ...

Don’t get me wrong

Don’t get me wrong; it’s a fascinating piece. But I’m afraid it’s pretty much 180 degrees from my preferences which is traditional pref with some history. I’ve seen the 105 in the flesh, out here in DUBAI it certainly doesn’t “de-tone” far from that. But ...

I understood that, but thanks for clarifying.

My point was a number of years ago it was (using your language) also 180 degrees from my preferences but over time both it grew on me as the design evolved and I guess my tastes broadened somewhat. And yes, it’s good we don’t all wear the same or this wou...

Love it, spectacular but not too flashy.

Thanks for the wrist shot. Vte

I love the high-tech military weapon look of these!

Really want to try an Urwerk on at some point. However, I'm afraid they may be too large for my smaller wrist/hand size

You do need to get it one the wrist. Remember, there are no lugs and the case shape gives you a different feeling that a round case.

My wrist is 6.25 inches, and for round cases these days I prefer 40mm and below. But the Urwerk, because it’s not conventional case and lack of lugs, doesn’t looks as big as a 40mm+ round case kilt do on my wrist. I will also say, the more recent 105 wear...

Urwerk continues to impress.

Now part of my top five brands for sure. Maybe even top 3.
