Some fresh pictures of the Laurent Ferrier Classic Origin Opaline.

The more I think of this one, the more I am sure it is my favorite.

Because of its case and dial:

But also for its movement, even if I know that it is not a consensual point, as some think it is too " simple ".

Best,

Nicolas

Sometimes the best are simple

Simplicity can be hard to achieve

I totally agree.

 By: amanico : August 4th, 2021-07:32

Isn’t that the truth!

Often a watchmaker will try the simple route, but it often looks ‘forced’ to my eyes and not natural

Handsome watch,

 By: Juliusotto : August 4th, 2021-07:34
about the movement I’ll say it looks rather industrial for that dial and elegant case

What I think, too.

Less is more

 By: Jp75 : August 4th, 2021-07:54
Love the simplicity of the design: It is rather difficult to simplify and to make the result looks better. Very successful in that case. Love also the small red details. Now looking at the movement: i again like the simplicity of the design [because it is...

That Macedo is quite something

Look at that subtle co-branding and terrific sector dial ...

Co-branding

 By: Jp75 : August 4th, 2021-08:49
Very nice and subtle placement of the co-branding indeed. Reminds me of the PP 5125

Agreed!

 By: VinnieD : August 5th, 2021-08:21
A real question here: has any brand released a really good sector dial recently? There was Habring with a special edition I believe PP and Jaeger have made the 'date' mistake Longines and Ferrier have made the 'small seconds' mistake

Recent sector dial

 By: BMR : August 5th, 2021-14:49
I’m not sure if this is the Habring sector dial you are referring to as there were some previous similar iterations, but I absolutely love everything about this watch. The design, the proportions, the aesthetics, the jumping seconds - it’s one that won me...

Nice!

 By: Jp75 : August 5th, 2021-15:07
I had only seen a version of sector dial made by Harbring in collaboration with TimeZone but never seen yours before (I attach below a picture, credit Harbring - @moderator: feel free to remove if that is not ok to post) Your version is very nice! 😀 What ...

That one is tops!

Habring Erwin LAB 02

 By: BMR : August 5th, 2021-16:49
This is the name of the one that I posted, and it was designed by William Massena, as was the one you posted, if I recall correctly. Massena has done a few of these collaborations in limited editions, and the one that I have was the most recent one done u...

Beauty

 By: Jp75 : August 5th, 2021-18:07
Thanks for sharing the context and the details. It is a beautiful watch and I can understand why you fell for it: The two-tones dial, the heritage going back to PP96, the details on the dial with raised numerals, and the LE dimension, all contribute to ma...

Thank you very much for your kind words!

Simple beauty tends to be my favorite, although, there are a few exceptions

Alas, I have to agree. Well, there is one which is quite good... This one.

 By: amanico : August 5th, 2021-16:00
Without " Automatic ", it would be perfect! ...

Agreed; syringe hands?

 By: Jp75 : August 5th, 2021-16:27
Very nice; I came very close to pulling the trigger on that one but always wondered about the syringe hands. Do you know why JLC went for the syringe ones and didn’t go for alpha hands, - or any blue ones for that matter (bleutées). Is that a historical r...

About the Master Control Chrono sector dial...

 By: amanico : August 5th, 2021-16:35
There was a strong influence, here, with this pocket watch. And truth to be told, I would have much preferred the leaf shaped hands of this pocket watch. Now about the syringe hands, there was a precedent. JLC used them on some watches, such as the... Dee...

Less is more … and more difficult

 By: Jp75 : August 5th, 2021-18:16
First of all, thanks for sharing the detailed background info, amazing wealth of knowledge. I fully agree with you and really like the hands on the original pocket watch, would have been ideal - my first choice. Also the other you example you posted (syri...

quite easy solution

Choose a custom made LF, buying a LF galet with micro-rotor and add this second dial ;-) My 2 cents.

No, nor for me.

 By: amanico : August 4th, 2021-20:12

so funny to read

 By: patrickh : August 5th, 2021-17:03
how you react regarding to add lots of options on your car, but not a "second dial" for your watch ;-) " I am working on my own A 110. If all goes well, I will end that project in June 2022, but I already gave it two stages of modifications, the third one...

Never a question for me on LF being pleasing to the eye.

 By: Jay (Eire) : August 4th, 2021-11:29
Since the first one I saw, to the majority I’ve seen since I’ve thought them to very appealing. Will you pull the trigger eventually? Or are there just too many others with equal merit on the wish list ? (I think this is where I am, LF is always there but...

It's very subjective, some simply "mature" into LF.

 By: Ivan5 : August 4th, 2021-16:17
Never had any regret, nor a thought of using the LF funds for any other"comparable/ peer timepiece". ...

Agree!

 By: amanico : August 4th, 2021-20:13

I am so happy I bought this beauty!

Thanks for the confirmation

Simply beautiful 👌🏻

 By: Watchonthewrists : August 4th, 2021-19:25

Love it, in all its perfectly proportioned simplicity

 By: mrds : August 4th, 2021-20:06
And I include the movement in this statement. Will it be on your wrist soon?

Honestly I find this watch to be absolutely stunning. It’s simple but elegant and I truly love the layout of the movement.

 By: aperna : August 5th, 2021-00:43
I saw a few of the references of this brand in June while visiting Boston. They are truly remarkable. Someday soon!!!!

+1!

Big love for this one!

thanks for sharing the pics cheers

Pleasure, my friend.

 By: amanico : August 5th, 2021-06:54

I love LF. I don’t have one, but would like one.

 By: Wristenthusiast : August 5th, 2021-05:25
Here is my objective outsiders opinion on the movement. It looks very good. It’s actually difficult to get that finish from that metal. But if you don’t have an LF and you were going to get one, I can see people not wanting this. Only because it’s not the...

1. This is the case for me.

What I fear... ;)

 By: amanico : August 8th, 2021-20:59

Thank you for the photos - great watch!

 By: charsiewfan : August 8th, 2021-02:04
However, was wondering if you might be able to provide some close up shots of the movement as well. I am slightly intrigued but I have got to say I love the contemporary touch to it!

I will, next time!

 By: amanico : August 8th, 2021-21:00

Looking forward!

 By: charsiewfan : August 10th, 2021-02:00

With great pleasure.

And the more I see this one…

 By: Mike H : August 9th, 2021-14:12
…and I see you looking at it, the more I don’t understand… why it is not yours yet 😉. When I see it at AdM the watch is telling me it wants you as its owner…

Superb!
