You would clearly buy a piece of history...

As stated by others, seeing how many watches are made per year, you would obviously buy a piece of history! Which is an achievement in itself.
I find it remarkable that Roger Smith and a very few others make everything in house and nearly all by hand! To maintain this, buying a new piece makes sense. It is similar to a sponsorship to craftmanship in order to maintain it alive.
One aspect that is much more subjective is the design of the dial and to me this is the blocking point. I don't think the hands are as nice and refined as they could/should be. The watches are supposed to look classic and I find Breguet/Daniels/Jürgensen hands much more fine and attractive. Also, sometimes, the numerals stick out too much. This is purely easthetical but it is the main driver for me when I choose a watch.
To come back to your question, if you like it you should go for it, and if it takes 5 years, you could go and see your watch progresses every year!
All the best, and tell us what choice you make.
