Hmmm, I don't see your point

We can indeed find a very few watches which are completly original.

But for the huge majority of the watches, you'll always find a detail (hands, lugs, numerals fonts) which existed somewhere else before.

Is it a reason to say they are not legitimate?

Are these watches you mention the only ones which are worth paying attention too?

I was just emphasizing the fact that these lugs and case are found somewhere else and not "only" on the SM and the Panerai.

You're of course free to share your opinion but if we do it that way, then nearly any watch won't make the cut.

By the way, the first use of a design is not always the best and maybe improved afterwards, by integrating it in a different items combination.

We may think of the original ones which were a hit (like the RO) but we forget all the ones which were original but we forgot as they weren't looking good (and Genta has some in its creations).

OnlyWatch 2015: Laurent Ferrier "Galet Square"

By: Mark in Paris : July 7th, 2015-14:39
This time it is a special edition of the cushion shaped Galet Square from Laurent Ferrier that is unveiled. This model (41 x 41mm), new in LF's collection is very nice looking as well as elegant. The watch presented for the Only Watch 2015 auction is made...

Yes, the original was already very nice

but this sector dial brings again something more, I like it too. In fact, I like a lot of the watches presented for this auction :) Cheers, Mark

Many elements are appealing indeed here

I wasn't a fan so much of sector dials but here it works fantasticaly. Yes the lugs are nice, and so is the case! Cheers, Mark

It is quite frustrating when unique items are a true success and you don't use it as a standard model, even for a small production. On the other hand it makes it even more exceptional. Cheers, Mark

not convinced at all. At least for me it does not work as I decode the watch esthetics as follows: - take a good large and thick "cushion" case, most associated with Panerai - add a touch of Speake Marin in the fixings of the strap - a 1930's sector dial,...

Ow Z', I don't know what makes these elements (shape and lugs) only Panerai and SM ones

If so, then we can say this for every watch. I can take any watch and find an element which has been used before on another model. But I understand your other points as it really doesn't sing to you. Thanks for sharing your opinion. Cheers, Mark

Be my guest :-)
