although it is not that precise. It has the same precision as a standard 59-toothed wheel, isn't it? Do you have more information about the mechanism, the black hand needs to swing back and forth while completing the 29.5 day rotation, right?
I am not a big fan of the running EOT, because for most people it is actually less practical than the usual crescent shaped indicator (this is purely an intellectual issue I guess, since there is nothing really usefull about a EOT...). The sun hand will only indicate true solar time if the person wearing it is located on a standard meridian (assuming the watches are not specifically made for a certain longitude). If you do not live on a standard meridian the hand (in combination of the minute hand) only indicates EOT, only it's harder to read than from a standard crescent shaped indicator. Hence, the more complicated running indicator is less practical than an ordinary indicator and that just doesn't feel right....for me of course...

the owner of the watch can set the solar hand himself. If the owner sets the true solar time correctly for a certain longitude, and the watch 'knows' the EOT, the watch will indicate the true solar time correctly just as long as the owner stays on the lon...
