because the numbers are not actually printed on the barrels, but on toothed sapphire disks that are mounted above the barrels.  You can just make them out on the pictures.  That way they can be adjusted through a slip clutch just like any other watch.  Andreas told me he had started out with the idea to put the numbers directly on the barrel, but it was impossible to make a reliable mechanism to set the time that way.
