Two weeks ago, i visited an young master watchmaker in germany. His watches were build in the same manner as they did hundred years ago. Here some pictures:
The first picture shows the manufacture, the master - Dirk Dornblueth - himself and his machines. He does the whole finish with traditional machines, most of them were build by himself.

The box ist of massive wood and handmade by a cabinetmaker in Kalbe. When ordering the watch, you can choose the colour and type of wood. This one is covered with root wood.

The movement is based on a geartrain from the Unitas 6497, but the powerreserve is an own construction which will not encrease the hight of the movement and is more accurate as the usual ones. All the bridges are made by himself with the machines shown above, also the wheels for the powerreserve, the screwed chatons and the complete finish of all parts. The movement ist plated with rosegold and hand engraved by Jochen Benzinger.

The case is made by Fricker in Pforzheim and has two sapphire crystals. I gave him the hint to use a domed crystal on top to give the watch a more elegant look and he ordered some crystals immediately. The dial comes from Cador, this company is well known for its perfect Sinn 903 dials. The blued hands are about hundred years old and came from old pocket watches.

The case back is screwed with a o-ring gasket, also the crystal ring. The watch has a diameter of 42mm and a hight of 11mm. It is provided with an very high class leather strap, you can choose from serveral colours.

After my opinion, this ist the most interesting watch from a german newcomer, especially if you have seen, how the watch is made an have talked to Mr. Dornblueth.
