I agree that classing the Frodsham as simply another dress watch does a disservice to this watch
Sep 17, 2018,10:45 AM
The watch is meant to be a unique horological expression, like Greubel Forsey IP1 or a JLC Gyrotourbillon, both of which are substantially larger and thicker. I think it's delightfully wearable given this context.
The watch is not for everyone, and the price point and the scale of production reflect this. The watch was created by and for those with an intellectual itch for 1) a true Frodsham watch for the 21st century and/or 2) an escapement that is both traditional (i.e. no silicon) and entirely unique with great performance/history.
Best,
Brandon

Spent an hour with the Frodsham watches
By: brandon1 : September 14th, 2018-03:07
All, I had the good fortune of spending about an hour with Richard Stenning of Frodsham yesterday and got to see the new watches. A lot has been said about this watch and the the SJX article that Spangles shared the other day provides photos better than m...

Did you have a chance to chat about the movement itself? Any insights? I have a question or two for Richard, although I know he is quite busy.
Very nice watches.

I like them a lot, the movement is really something else. A bit smaller would have been great. Thanks for sharing the live pics. Vte

I only got into appreciating watches few years back and, amongst others as a result from all the interesting posts on this blog, I’m learning something new every day. Today I learned about a brand I had never heard of, thanks for sharing

what are your thoughts about the case design and execution? In the pictures it looks bland compared to the rest of the watch....almost a mismatch??? Interested to hear about your impressions
Good question
By: brandon1 : September 17th, 2018-10:50
I was actually really impressed with the case and crown. The crown is very large and a pleasure to wind, and it's 2 o'clock position makes it very comfortable. The case lugs are short and curved for comfort. There is actually a really nice little step fro...
Thank You, Brandon

For your detailed reply. The t sounds like they are trying to make sure it is also a contemporary watch. I think my beef with the case is that it reminds me of the case on my IWC Big Pilot. So I see the case as more utilitarian or tool watch’esque than ho...
These are beautiful and...

...seemingly well-made by any standard. But I can’t get past the size. It looks enormous. I have a 7 1/4 inch wrist and I don’t think I could pull it off. It’s bigger than my Submariner. When will someone put this kind of quality into a reasonable (opinio...
That looks great.

Coincidentally I tried on a 42mm Vacheron today and it fit very well. But it was also very slim. So maybe it’s more the height than the diameter. But I also don’t think a dress watch should be too showy...it’s not a RO Offshore.
That's a good point and brings up a question:
By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : September 15th, 2018-05:49
Are these, both the Breguet and the Frodsham, really dress watches? Usually, we really only think about dress watches versus various sporty caregories such as dive/pilot/etc. However, the one on my wrist really can't be compared to a strict dress watch. A...
Sure is beautiful work

I was able to confirm with Frodsham that the escapement is oil-free. Of course, lubricants may be used elsewhere, but the situation is different than in Omega co-axials (and the Millennial series, which Brandon reminded me is based on the 2500) where lubr...
