Gyro Gearloose's laboratory...

I am impressed! The watch, from concept to execution, shows independence and creativity with some very fine details that really showcase the personality of the maker.
The large balance wheel is to die for, as are the fine details in the case and the printing on the dial (although I have to admit I could do with a little bit less ;-)). All this for me are indications for japanese attention to the detail. I definitely have to see these watches in the metal!
But what I admired most is Hajime Asaoka's workshop: It allows a glimpse into his personality like using an endoscope. Look at the assemblage of vintage designer furniture spread throughout his workshop, the vintage Apple computers (the old famous SE in the bookshelf, the mirrored-drivedoor G4 (oh, how I love those machines!) on the photo set-up) and the stereo-system (seems like Burmester components with a vintage Philips CD-player and a Nakamichi tape).
Got it? Mirror-polish even on computer cases and stereo-systems!
All this is nothing like you would see in interior magazines, this is the expression of a life individual, a true character. And this again shows in the watches.
Ken, I envy you. Japan is a watchmaking country that's clearly on the map now and has some very unique characteristics which definitely and excitingly enrich watchmaking universe!
Cheers,
Magnus
