Gronefeld... going up and up in recognition

Nice down to earth brothers too.
I like the special finish of their movements and of course their creativity, rooted in historic European watchmaking

Congratulations, this must be quite an eventful acquisition for you!

For the first time, I am actually lost for words apart from the fact that I’m totally in awe of the timepiece. It has so many fine qualities that makes it a keeper. A lot has been spoken about it, but nonetheless here are the key reasons why I love it: 1....

Thank you Ted 🙏🏼

I recently purchased a principia and its quickly become my favorite watch I've EVER owned. I love the brand and cant wait to see what they come up with next.

Congratulations on the Principia, Hanke

Indeed, my attention has been largely centered around independents over the last 2 years and it does feel like the portfolio is a little indie heavy at the moment. I am often immensely attracted towards the attention to detail, the level of quality and th...

Truly a beautiful watch

Mine says hey ...

Beautiful :-)

 By: Mr.Gatsby : July 31st, 2020-01:59
Is that SS or WG? I am really curious to know how many combinations of the 1941 Remontoire are out there.

S/S

 By: NautNut : July 31st, 2020-09:07
Surprisingly more than I would have thought. I was lucky to get 1/1. Enjoy yours in the best of health!

Haven't tried one on...I would have asked to delete the 'eight seconds...' text on the dial...

 By: mdg : July 30th, 2020-15:34
...everything else look exemplary. Wear it in great health : )

I hear you mate

 By: Mr.Gatsby : July 31st, 2020-02:02
Less is more. I am however a little more tolerant in this case with the “8 second Remontoire” text. Because it is not immediately obvious that the watch is a 8 second Remontoire, hence the text does serve to educate the user. But I do agree with you. With...

At least it's not like some (looking at you Chopard)...

 By: mdg : July 31st, 2020-12:25
...dials that label things 'day,' 'date,' 'month.' My feeling is, the owner knows how the thing works... : )

A huge congrats with your stunning and gorgeous 1941 dear friend

Nice to photos of your Remontoire here. Thank you for your kind words.

Many congrats.

 By: Jay (Eire) : July 30th, 2020-15:57
I was very very close on one of these (non Kari dial) almost three years ago now. I’m sorry I didn’t pull the trigger. In part I hesitated as I expected these to be somewhat available in the future, even allowing for the small numbers. Of course they are ...

Jay thank you for your kind words

 By: Mr.Gatsby : July 31st, 2020-02:07
What a bummer, I wish you pulled the trigger. They do surface out from time to time and I am quite sure asking prices wouldn’t deviate too far from retail price (unless of course you’re ACM or other large grey dealers of that sort). Shoot me an email at g...

Congrats! Awesome new pick up!

 By: Fastwong : July 30th, 2020-16:00
I'm a big fan and agree in wishing for something a little bigger. I'd be a customer at 41-42mm (in case the brothers are watching 😋)

Thanks mate

 By: Mr.Gatsby : July 31st, 2020-02:11
On the contrary I do hope that if they change the size, it should be a different watch altogether I think it is always better to have less options. Giving the consumer too much freedom can end up being a bad thing. I cannot pin point exactly, but qualitat...

Congrats - It's an incredible piece

Welcome to the club, I've had mine for ~18 months and still find myself checking out under a loop when it comes up in rotation

Ahhh there you are :-))

 By: Mr.Gatsby : July 31st, 2020-02:12
Thank you sir for your kind comments. Hope to see more photos of your watch — it’s a beauty. Interested to hear your experience with it and why you bought yours in the first place.

Congratulations on this special acquisition!

 By: ZSHSZ : July 30th, 2020-16:32
I tried on a couple of them and lined them very much, and the movement is something else, very special! I appreciated the solid feel and the smooth winding. But for me 39mm is just perfect! Enjoy it forever... Zsolt.

Thank you Zsolt for your words

 By: Mr.Gatsby : July 31st, 2020-02:14
Much appreciated ! Indeed I feel that the size is perfect for me too.

Congratulations and thanks for posting!

 By: Monopole : July 30th, 2020-17:35
I am still waiting for mine - probably one of the last 188 orders. Did you have to wait long?

Hello mate

 By: Mr.Gatsby : July 31st, 2020-02:15
I did not buy direct from the brothers but rather through an AD. Was a fairly short wait. Looking forward to seeing you get yours. What dial and case combination did you opt for ?

Congratulations!

 By: jleno : July 30th, 2020-17:58
One of my favorite watches of all time, and I love the way that they were able to do the guilloche in a way that looks very modern.

Thank you mate :-) nt [nt]

Obeezy thank you :-)

 By: Mr.Gatsby : July 31st, 2020-02:19
Do share some photos of yours ! ;-)

That is just a beauty. One of the nicest engine -turned dial I ever saw.

 By: hoseachandra : July 30th, 2020-18:35
IMO is a modern interpretation of classique Breguet, with some twist. Congartulations , and wear it in good health.

Thank you Hosea

 By: Mr.Gatsby : July 31st, 2020-02:21
Your interpretation of it is apt.

Lovely photos of a stunning watch!

 By: sham1 : July 30th, 2020-18:42
The watch fits your wrist well and a larger 40.5mm case would have been too large. I will join the 188 club next year but I have opted for the simpler silver dial. Yours of course is very nice but I preferred an even more understated dial.

Sham I do not blame you

 By: Mr.Gatsby : July 31st, 2020-02:24
We have GaryG to blame. I thought his write up on quill and pad on the said watch is pretty accurate in terms of how I actually do feel about it. He opted for a SS case and a silver dial. I too, find this combo to be very attractive. The simpler the bette...

Yes I too read Gary G's article

and am awaiting for my stainless steel case Remontoire. In fact, I am so into Gronefeld that I am tempted on ordering a Principa too

The Gronefeld brothers make such gorgeous watches!

 By: BigAppleBill : July 30th, 2020-18:43
Their remontoire is such a marvel of engineering and craftsmanship. I’m very envious. Congrats on a terrific acquisition!

Thanks Bill

 By: Mr.Gatsby : July 31st, 2020-02:26
The Remontoire is fast becoming a favorite complication of mine. I love the idea of having a fuss free life. Complications are not for me. The only complication I love is the chronograph. But I like increasingly like the idea of the Remontoire.

Very nice dial and movement !

I am in seven heaven, as you can imagine ! I will post a photo of my blue dial kari with this soon. They make a lovely pair together

Wonderful piece

 By: George Gently : July 30th, 2020-22:48
Horological art, if you ask me. The bridges of the movement in those Grönefeld brothers watches remind me of canal houses of Amsterdam. Enjoy it in health! Regards, George

Thank you George

 By: Mr.Gatsby : July 31st, 2020-02:29
That is exactly the reason why I feel they have created immense value out of the movement. The aesthetics is not only beautiful but also highly relatable.

Thank you mate nt [nt]

It is indeed an awesome watch for all the reasons you mentioned. Like you I love the dial, the hands, the case (especially the lugs) and most of all, the mesmerizingly beautiful movement. I have the salmon version of yours, also in SS, and it makes me smi...
