Watches and Wonders 2023: My first contact with Ferdinand Berthoud Universe.

 By: amanico : May 23rd, 2023-08:30
In 2015, when Ferdinand Berthoud gave birth to its first watch, I was more intrigued than seduced. Truth to be told, I was in awe in front of the horological approach, less seduced by the aesthetics, I swore to myself to first see these watches in real li...

An impressive introduction!

The watches just don't look good on my wrist unfortunately. They're technically awesome. The cases aren't always beautiful too. It's like having a Monster Truck. Imposing, you'll be the king of the road (or the King at any watch event), but unless you're ...

Absolutely amazing watches .

The level of details and finishing is on top imho. You have to see them in person to understand it I think.

Very interesting story about this brand, which is new to me.

I do like the look of these watches. Very easy to read the time, even with some skeleton aspects, which is important to me. They are beautifully made and beatuifully designed. I would like to see them in person. Unfortunately, I can only look because the ...

Thank you for the great review and photos!

I was able to handle the FB 1, 2, and 3 some months back and came away very impressed. The level of finishing is impressive and I love how their designs relate to some of the past Berthoud chronometers. The FB 3 is very wearable and I love the unique look...

I have admired these since they debuted...

...but they will probably be forever out of reach : (

Loved these first impressions!

I can't wait to experience any of them in person at some point! I think they look terrific, and especially the FB1.... But of course, as you mention, at that price point do you go for a Reverso Gyrotourbillon or an FB1........

I'm sure you can make it!

With some rationing and perhaps selling a few pieces . Also, the only technical 'issue' I have with the FBs is that a watch whose main inspiration is a marine chronometer is only 30m WR.... I don't remember what the WR on the Gyrotourbillon is, but I bet ...

Wrist shot!

Exquisite pieces, and that first one with its octagonal case is breataking!

The FB2T is just as stunning with an even nicer presentation of this gorgeously large movement! They are large yes, but this can be forgiven given the size of the movement. Overall the design is amazing, and looking froward to seeing how they evolve their...

Wonderful report...

the aesthetics of this house fascinating.

Indeed these pieces are astonishing

And priced accordingly. For my money I would much prefer any one of these versus any GF for example - besides being less pricey just totally subjectively they appeal to me more in design.
