And when I discussed the concept of artisanal watchmaking, where hand-finishing is the whole allure of the package (no ones buy Akrivia for his escapement), you have a very narrow definition of "watchmaking" and attacked again with your narrow perspective. It's totally unnecessary.
I wasn't trying to prove anyone's point, especially to you. I spend my money on hand-finished watches and will not spend a single cent on MB&F and DB because of those reasons I highlighted.

These MB&F are too big and the finishing
is outsourced. MB&F only assembles. My favourite chrono is PB 2941.
Lots of amazing brands outsource
Nothing wrong with it imo. It doesn’t hurt quality. IE dials for Dufour are done by a 3p
PD finishes his watches meticulously
vs 100% outsourcing. I can't justify paying all that for an assembler.

I mean, in all honesty, Simon Brette himself does not finish his watches. He has a team to do that, but they’re not employed by him. So the distinction between i house and outsourced is very thin even with some of the smallest of independents.
Most small independents
have a workshop where they employ watchmakers and decorators. Some outsource dial or case to vendors. I'm not too sure what's Simon's modus operandi enough to comment.
Dufour didn't even desingn the simplicity movement ... Everything comes from suppliers, not only the dial.

To say otherwise is like calling the Eiffel tower an exercise in metallurgy. The most complicated Patek pocket watches had movements designed and finished by someone else. That's how the Swiss industry worked. So yes, PP were also assemblers.
