Few humble suggestions

I have 6.5~ inch wrists and can't wear anything big than 40mm.
Journe CB: If you can get it at retail and are comfortable with the all-round look as opposed to being a dress only watch, I would seriously consider it. That's the only Journe I have as the other 40mm offerings wear big on my wrist because of their flat thin shape/profile.
Moser: Probably the best value independent in my eyes, although the finishing is just a level below Journe, GF, and others but they are also priced accordingly. I have a Endeavour Center Seconds Blue Fume in 40mm size and it wears great on my wrist. There are other dress offerings too in The Venturer line but I chose Endeavour as my first Moser. There are other Mosers for sure in future for me.
Gronefeld: Principia is a great line and I difinitely want one in future, either the copper or white lacquered dial with roman numerals. The finishing is a level above compared to Journe in the same price range and the overall case design just oozes class.
Laurent Ferrier: Again, they wear big and are too simple for my taste. But their steel offerings come up at great value in used/grey market. I am sure you can also get a nice discount on a new one. I have handled few in person and apart from being too plain in design language, I didn't see the supposedly high level of finished compared to Gronefeld or Lange, at least not with the naked eyes.
