 By: pplater : February 1st, 2014-18:36
...but worth every second of the wait: Cheers, pplater....

We definitely won't...

 By: Ornatus-Mundi : February 1st, 2014-23:44
because this movement looks so attractive, seductive… that I am tempted to fork out the funds to fly down… Cheers, Magnus P.S.: PLEASE show us more… SOON!

Always a keen eye for a movement, Magnus!...

 By: pplater : February 2nd, 2014-01:00
The welcoming mat is out and the wine is being chilled. You are very welcome here! By the way - forgetting the bridges for a moment: don't you love that balance wheel??? More soon. Cheers, pplater.

Thin, delicate, lustrous, magnificent, powerful...

 By: Ornatus-Mundi : February 2nd, 2014-13:39
all this come to my poor mind not only when I look at the balance wheel but particularly if I look at the entire escapement assembly (from balance to escapement wheel cock...). And these bridges, these bridges.... I was even so blinded that I did not real...

It was all about the bridges...

 By: pplater : February 2nd, 2014-21:29
Full 'reveal' will follow shortly - as soon as time permits. Your enthusiasm is much appreciated. Cheers, pplater.

How else, Nico, will you share...

 By: pplater : February 2nd, 2014-00:56
...the sense of antici... > > > > > > > > > > ...pation! :-) Cheers, pplater.

.... Well said! ;)

Es klingt gut :) [nt]

 By: cisco : February 2nd, 2014-03:05

Sehr gut sogar! [nt]

 By: Ornatus-Mundi : February 2nd, 2014-13:39

:) more seriously:

 By: cisco : February 2nd, 2014-23:48
the bridge treatment has sometimes been seen for the balance wheel (in Voutilainen) but as far as I remember not for the complete movement. And it's a lot of work to do one... That contrasting and the gilt frosted plate gives a stunning result. As usual ,...

wow..

 By: didwlgh : February 2nd, 2014-10:33
looks stunning! If I may ask, which watchmaker makes this watch?

Of course you may ask!...

 By: pplater : February 2nd, 2014-21:38
It is flattering (for the watchmaker) that you should enquire, and he is one who perhaps gets less fanfare than he deserves. Look out for a full 'reveal' very shortly. Cheers, pplater.

Stunning!!

 By: sidneyc : February 2nd, 2014-16:03
Another top quality Independent that fit well in your collection! Great choice and congratulations pplater! The bridge design is amazing, love the look of it, and perfect with the frosted finish! Looking forward to see the dial side!

wow is right

 By: ei8htohms : February 2nd, 2014-18:48
Thanks and looking forward to seeing more!

Stunning piece.

 By: JerryW : February 2nd, 2014-19:41
I look forward to learning more about it. Some things are definitely worth waiting for. Best, JerryW

Christian Klings is a lovely man and a genius watchmaker

 By: Tim Jackson : February 2nd, 2014-22:05
Well done pplater, that looks to be superb so far.... Looking forward to seeing the other side! Thanks for the tease. Cheers, Tim

There was no way, Tim...

 By: pplater : February 2nd, 2014-22:39
...that you weren't going to spot in an instant that it was CK! You're also right when you say that he's a genius and a lovely man into the bargain. Expect a more detailed post shortly. Cheers, pplater.

That is simply stunning.

 By: grumio : February 3rd, 2014-00:18
More than worth the wait. Very much looking forward to seeing more. I particularly like the tear-drop lugs, and I’ve no doubt the front will be equally special. Congratulations pplater, that a marvellous addition to an already pretty special collection. c...

If the front...

 By: fernando : February 3rd, 2014-03:15
is anything like the back, then we are in for a real treat! cheers fernando

With the greatest respect...

 By: Rushwarp : February 3rd, 2014-04:57
for Mr. Klings work, why are almost all the chatons damaged? It appears there was a big problem fitting the chatons to their openings in the bridges... Furthermore, the bridge nearest the winding barrel carrying the center/auxiliary wheel has only one poi...

Oh, dear!!!...

 By: pplater : February 3rd, 2014-06:38
What damage do you see? Cheers, pplater.

Well for starters...

 By: Rushwarp : February 3rd, 2014-07:55
look at the topmost jewel,it looks like the winding barrel jewel. on the left and right has the outer edges of the chaton sheared off? Or am I mistaken and this is a retaining ring of some kind?? All the other chatons also have bits of metal between the c...

Sorry, but how you can see *this* in the pic supplied...

 By: Ornatus-Mundi : February 3rd, 2014-09:14
remains a mystery to me. The resolution does - In my opinion - not allow to draw any conclusions on the finishing, at least not through this image. We have to wait for more (and more close-up!) pics. Kind regards, Magnus

Of course you can see it in this picture..

 By: Rushwarp : February 3rd, 2014-11:20
unless you don't want to see what is in front of you ;-0) In this case the 2 bits of metal sticking out are there at roughly 9 and 3 o'clock around the winding barrel jewel chaton. If you don't want to talk about it, or feel offended because it is your cu...

I think what you are referring to are 2 screws holding the jewels...

 By: Ornatus-Mundi : February 3rd, 2014-11:40
in reference to old masters - others do this as well, just look at A. Lange & Söhne … (who use blued screws). Sure, its not standard, but an interesting interpretation - and certainly deliberately done. BTW, what you inferring is certainly not the cas...

To illustrate my point...

 By: Ornatus-Mundi : February 3rd, 2014-11:57
Look closely at the balance bridges of these two movements - not bad (for a blind eye :-)): Respectfully, Magnus ...

As you wish..

 By: Rushwarp : February 3rd, 2014-13:48
So you really still cannot see the two bits of metal sticking out of the winding barrel chaton??? And now you want to tell me they are 2 screws by showing me something else? Why this need to obfuscate the obvious? Since you evidently know Klings, and want...

if I may interject...

 By: didwlgh : February 3rd, 2014-13:54
Been following this thread as I find the movement very beautiful. After looking at the photos several times, I think the two bits of metal sticking out of the "winding barrel chaton" seem to be fixing screws, much like that of the Lange chatons & fixi...

Lets wait for better pictures...

 By: DonCorson : February 3rd, 2014-13:57
before we start with claiming obfuscation. As I see it all the chatons are being held by two screws, also the one for the barrel. But pplater will certainly delight us with more pictures soon in which we can better see the situation. Don

Hi Don

 By: Rushwarp : February 3rd, 2014-16:21
Of course it will be interesting to see more pictures of such an interesting watch. And of course there are screws holding the chatons ;-0) Still, none of the above answers the question what the two bits of metal are sticking out of the winding barrel cha...

Let stop it here until we have more images...

 By: Ornatus-Mundi : February 3rd, 2014-16:26
To come to a more informed conclusion. Until then I will refrain from further input given the imputations made here which are unworthy in a discussion amongst adults. Magnus P.S.: should I be wrong I will be the first to offer an apology - as it should be...

Yes, let's talk about being adult Magnus....

 By: Rushwarp : February 3rd, 2014-17:07
Seeing that the only thing you can evidently follow my discussion with is uncalled for mudslinging, by attempting to infer I am not talking in an adult manner worthy of discussion with you, then I am more than pleased to leave you to the horological sandb...

It's quite understandable...

 By: pplater : February 3rd, 2014-14:48
...how you might come to that conclusion from the picture provided - mea culpa. In other photos it seems that the 'shears' you mention are in fact tiny retaining screws. That is not to say, of course, that the movement is flawless: we each have our own id...

Thank you!

 By: Rushwarp : February 3rd, 2014-16:37
Thank you very much for (the only) straight answer and acknowledgement in this discussion, very much appreciated. I am very curious to see what these bits are in the final result. Again: this is not to take anyone down, even IF it might be a mistake by th...

Simply doesn't get much better than that.....

 By: Darren : February 3rd, 2014-09:59
You know my feelings about Klings already, and this one is shaping up to be a masterpiece. One of the most beautiful movements I've ever laid eyes on. I'll wait with everyone else for the full Monty. Darren

You are a lucky man pplater...

 By: DonCorson : February 3rd, 2014-13:52
That movement is beautiful. I can't wait to see in more detail how it is done. Those look like polished pillars reflecting their surroundings. MORE PICTURES !! Don

cool

But what are those dinguses hanging off of the doohickeys that even though the photo is blurry I can clearly see must be the moons of Uranus? Oh...never mind! Cheers, best wishes, and can't wait to see the reverse, Gary

Hello hello. Lovely to meet you and your whatchamacallits and thingummybobs.

A treat for me!

 By: Gary G : February 8th, 2014-12:03
Wonderful to meet you at last -- you have now moved from being a shadowy but benevolent presence on the Australian watch scene to a real live person! Hope to meet you on many more occasions in future. All the best, Gary

hmm...benevolent...

Very curious to see the dial side of Mr. Klings' creation. Knowing his work, I strongly suspect it will not disappoint. Eagerly awaiting more... Cheers, Tim

Impeccable taste my friend!
