One of our former moderators introduced me to this brand years ago. At first I overlooked this brand probably because it isn't a famous brand that everyone has heard of (I guess I was a sheep instead of a shepherd at one point too). This is one amazing ch...

Maybe you're right... Maybe that's why the architecture is so good. I haven't compared the two movements yet. And the one the former moderator showed me was a manual wind, so I am partially over-influenced by that piece rather than the piece before us, wh...

Yes. I definitely agree with you that water resistance is lacking. The AP Royal Oak also has terrible water resistance too - which is also unfortunate.

If I want and buy a sports watch it has to be robust and not just looking / pretending to be robust. 😉 Same here for the Angelus. In addition to the poor price-performance ratio (as blau explained comprehensively: not a very impressive movement) the poor ... 

Yes... The AP RO is not a very sporty watch in many senses. The Patek Philippe Nautilus is also not very water resistant. Some models only have 60 meters water resistance. I personally don't recommend swimming without at least 100m water resistance.

every serious premium watch should have 100m water resistance as standard. I can't imagine that the implementation is such a problem. My theory: the manufacturers don't explicitly concern themselves with this because the market doesn't appreciate the addi... 

Yes. It's not a major concern for most customers. Who never think about all their needs and wants and never communicate them to the salespeople nor the manufacturers. And yes. The Luminor Due is an embarrassment! Come on Panerai! Really??? Are you kidding... 

Some manufacturers invest a lot of money in R&D to make the movements thinner and thinner. Or invest to artistically embellish the dial. Why not put a bit of that effort into the development of a case that really protects the movement? Small examples: BP,... 

that be all the more reason to protect them better? 😉

A lot of these Grand Seiko pieces have these lug holes.

Isn’t it a better solution than holes in the case?

I just don't like the hole that's visible from the outside of the lug. Just a personal preference.

Blancpain has it under the lugs where you don’t see them.

I finally saw one in the metal just a few weeks ago: I really liked the overall execution. However, I could do without the ‘Start,” “Stop,” and “Reset” on the pushers. They must have anticipated a lot of their buyers may become intoxicated and forget how ...  

But 30m WR makes no sense. Modern crowns, pusher and case technology and can't get better. 🤷‍♂️

A very interesting watch. I share your analysis. The price seems to be over ambitious.
