I'm not an expert and biased of course for owning a Tefnut

But I think there are a number of areas where MG surpasses Lange on finishing. The first is their hands, which are some of the best out there. They have significantly more hand engraving, which includes the text on the 3/5 plate and the 4th wheel + escape wheel cocks. The crown wheel is black polished, and the ratchet wheel is very elaborate with double snailing, a center jewel, and black polished screws. With Lange, the movements that do show the crown and ratchet wheel (like Saxonia thin) appear have a simpler finishing in those areas. MG's movements are much more exposed as well. With Lange's time-only pieces, a 3/4 plate is covering almost everything and the swan neck regulator is hiding a lot of the engravings on the balance cock. I do think Lange may have better anglage however. It would be nice to do a side-by-side comparison some day!

Looks like a boxed saphire on the Bentu?

Or is it flat? Very nice manual watch in perfect 37 mm. Well done MG!

How is your rating order if you would have to consider also Lang & Heyne?

L & H is not from Glashütte but Dresden.

Beautiful watches indeed, thanks for the report Nico

The dark violet leaf hands are gorgeous, the case is a perfect size/ shape for my wrist, and the movement is always a pleasure to look at.

Very nice timepieces

On a stand-alone basis fine watches, well made and indeed a notch above GO on multiple dimensions. Having said that, not quite sure it has the potential to grow beyond what it is today - which they might be perfectly ok with. I just don’t see them much in...

Thanks for sharing!

A purist who owns both told me the MG was similar in finishing to Lange. I'm interested in what differentiates the two from the view of an expert. Thanks again!

Appreciate your thoughts! [nt]
