Questions on Laurent Ferrier Autumn

 By: christianch : December 4th, 2022-14:51
Hi Independents affecionados I have been offered by my AD the Laurent Ferrier Square Micro-Rotor Autumn (Photos Credits Laurent Ferrier) I would like to ask some owners or someone that handled them in the metal: 1) Do you prefer the Square version or the ...

My preference is for the Square in steel, and the Galet classic in gold.

(This would be actually my perfect LF collection.) As for the price, it’s a question only you can answer for yourself. It’s a fair question and I posed it to myself as well and ultimately decided to go for it. My Galet Square deserves its place in the col...

thank you for the advice!

Thanks a lot! Much appreciated

very special version with this dial. I think this was issued when the price was lower. Gorgeous watch thank you👏

A dilemma that I’ve been pondering…

 By: mahesh : December 4th, 2022-15:47
One wouldn’t go wrong with either. Round is classic & a very refined case design. While the square is classy yet a tad outside the ‘crowd’…let us say, you like à Panerai Radiomir but you want à highly refined version - then Galet Square. I’m saying this i...

My preference is the Galet

 By: Geo : December 4th, 2022-15:59
Simply because the Galet case is smaller than the Square, and more classic. The Autumn dial is amazing, not the best to read, but stunning looking. GEO

thank you for the reply !!

a bit hold back by the price 15K more than the VC which is in white gold...

Hi Christian

 By: sham1 : December 4th, 2022-16:19
I personally prefer the square model because after having tried both the round and square versions, I can safely say that the square version fits the wrist better even though it has a diameter of 41mm compared to the round case which has a diameter of 40m...

I don’t agree with your assessments regarding price and quality

 By: Cozmopak : December 4th, 2022-19:18
But that is the beauty of this hobby. There is no right answer!

can you elaborate? :)

 By: christianch : December 4th, 2022-21:27

LF has had quality control issues for some time.

 By: Cozmopak : December 5th, 2022-00:01
Some of these are documented on this forum. I’ve also spoken to other collectors and authorized dealers who have confirmed this. I like many of LFs offerings, including the watch that you display here, but until they shore up their QC, I would never commi...

thank you for the clarification...

 By: christianch : December 5th, 2022-00:33
I did find some post about QA but obviously is very difficult to generalise as all brands can hit some QC issue. Clearly for a smaller brand it can be more prominent as there are not many collectors owning one. I am perplex too: 50K for steel is not to be...

No doubt QC issues arise with everyone

 By: Cozmopak : December 5th, 2022-01:19
But there seems to be a pattern in the case of LF, although I am always willing to stand corrected

interesting, thanks for sharing!

 By: christianch : December 5th, 2022-16:08

What are competitors / better value pieces in this segment?

 By: als1678 : December 5th, 2022-04:10
I can't think of many ... I am also not defending the price increases by independents across the board. But RG micro rotor is right now way more expensive, the Gronefeld's principia had also been creeping up (not to mention the infinite wait list). I just...

thank you for sharing!

 By: christianch : December 5th, 2022-09:36
I didn't know about FP Journe early days issues. The principia (althrough not available in stock) would have a much better pricing (and looks great). With LF I had the chance to get a montre ecole regulator at a good price but I went for the VC 1921 in st...

thanks a lot for your suggestions and contribution :)

 By: christianch : December 4th, 2022-21:23
perhaps the square is more unique as a case

Some answers...

 By: amanico : December 4th, 2022-18:31
1/ As for square or round, it is an eternal question. I could say that you can't get wrong, but I would go farther. At the beginning, I would have favored the Square. After some time, I feel more comfortable with the round. I fear to get rid of the Square...

Thank you Nicolas, always great to read your analysis ☺️

 By: christianch : December 4th, 2022-21:30
I totally agree with you, there are risk with the square but both are winner designs. Great to know that is a different Universe, hence may be is a bit unfair to compare it with more "industrial" productions. This said I feel that the supply/demand imbala...

Hmmm

 By: keks : December 4th, 2022-19:04
Lovely piece… I handled one of these summer of 2017 and was quite tempted. For me the square was the no contest winner mainly as it wears so incredibly well and offers something distinctly different from other timepieces. Elegant yet refined sporty. I was...

I’d be fairly confident in saying all LF are impeccably finished…

 By: Andy_Mac : December 4th, 2022-21:34
…both front and back. The square wears very comfortably. I have no experience with any other models. I would say take a look at which dial, shape and movement really sings to you and search it out. Certainly take your time, as with a bit of patience you h...

I had the pleasure of handling a classic origin opaline recently...

 By: oyster case : December 5th, 2022-06:36
and came away with that sneaking feeling the desire for one would take hold. Titanium case a big attraction. The movement striking and original, under a loupe refined. Exceptional dial and hands. Dial finish is remarkable but subtle. The whole piece gradu...

it is quite seductive, best not not resist!

great pic thank you 👏

classic line not available at my AD may be in the future..

thank you for sharing..indeed is very compelling

 By: christianch : December 5th, 2022-09:39
I will think carefully if I want/need another classic understated watch. I already have a Lange 1815, a Patek Calatrava, a Gondolo, VC Americain etc. Somehow with age I am more into lounder watches. My last acquisition is a Hublot Spirit of Big Bang Red M...

A beautiful watch, i pref the Square case but thats my taste

 By: Watchonthewrists : December 5th, 2022-07:38
I don’t own a LF at this point but if i want one it will be this model for sure 🙏🏻

Nice dilemma

 By: ChetBaker : December 5th, 2022-20:37
1. the square. Much more special and will stand out in any collection. Love the case shape. 2. I can sympathize. 50k usd/eur for a time only steel watch is a lot of money. But it all depends on how much value you place on movement finishing as the micro-r...

thanks a lot for sharing your view...

 By: christianch : December 6th, 2022-09:58
I will apply the rule "in doubt, wait". Usually if I am not totally in love with a watch I should wait ...somehow like my hublot more

Edit. Double post.

 By: ChetBaker : December 5th, 2022-20:38

Either case shape is…

 By: seehoo : December 10th, 2022-05:28
Beautifully made. But I went with the classic Origin,I like the crosshair fume’ blue dial. The contrasting hue of the Opaline blue dial and the indices is simple and elegant. The manual winding movement is certainly pure bliss to wind. I do hope you will ...

Own and like both square and galet cases. I prefer the autumn dial in the square case

 By: el_cid : February 7th, 2023-05:51
I don't have sophisticated reasons for my preferences, but having seen the autumn dial in different cases, I prefer it on the square case, which I own. In contrast, with the Ice Blue dial, I had an opportunity to purchase it in the square case but decided...

I eventually went for the square but the watch had issues so I did let it go...

 By: christianch : February 7th, 2023-10:55
here was the one I got www.watchprosite.com now already a bit obsolete (still some nice photos) because the watches stopped working at random times so I did let it go. It didn't even last a month
