Yet another record price

Nov 13, 2020,20:12 PM

Philippe Dufour 20th Anniversary edition of Simplicity has fetched US$ 1.51 million!!!. at the auction; and a tad above 40x  the original launch price of Simplicity..

Perhaps the first independent outside of Daniels to have reached these stratospheric heights in terms of price discovery by collectors.

Cheers

Not only Philippe Dufour or FPJ are much sought after now, but Grönefeld, Rexhep, Voutilainen and so many others are also having their order book full for a longer period than ever. This is excellent news

Feels like hot money investing in startup 😜

There is just so much value, passion and customer interaction with the indies. Go go indies go!

I see your point but thats with all the hyped rolex , ap , pp and rm watches too (and they aren't as rare or special like most independents imho)

I would love to own a FPJ but I wouldn’t pay any premium to get one . So its also for me a bummer but thats how the market is nowadays. I just see more recognition for indies from grey market dealers and big collectors and think its also good for these sm...

I agree

This makes the market speculative and the investment frenzy to profit takes over rather than a “buy-to-wear“ philosophy. Once again these indie watches will end up being flipped over and over again without true enjoyment of wearing these watches..
