Trying to judge finishing is often a bit subjective

Usually the first thing I look at is the anglage. High quality anglage will be wide and rounded, Voutilainen and Ferrier are great examples of this and they both have top quality anglage. Engraving is also difficult to execute, which Grossmann has. Large and/or rounded black polished components are another difficult finishing that you will normally only see on high end watches, which all three have as well.

Put the rest aside and tell us the movement finishing score in your heart

I've been in the independent watch world for a while and am thinking about my next watch. But I have never really understood movement finishing. In other words, when two top watches are in front of me, I am not sure which one has a good finishing and why ...

Have not seen all of your options

in person, but my deposit has been put down with Kari. I believe his are among the best finished watches being made.

Thank you

Hopefully, about 18-20 more months.

From your list my option would be a Kari V .

But all options are amazing and beautiful in there own way imho

Kari is more likely to be a watch for the big day, like my wedding...

Currently, I don't have enough funds to buy another watch after depositing it, and it's a long waiting time.

Still its worth the wait imho

Till then enjoy what you have 🙏🏻

Must agree. (nt)

Admittedly,

I simply don't inherently care as much for the exact level of movement finishing as I do for my holistic opinion and feeling for the watch. The movement finish can be by far the best one of a certain selection of pieces, and I will still go with the watch...

We are the same!

I started to buy watches in 2017 and began to appreciate independent watchmaking in 2019. I chose my pieces based on my own experience and taste. That's why I have only a minimal knowledge of finishing, even though I've tried most of them. If buying the t...

Great one. For me...

P Coyon vs KV both are amazing yet one is clearly extraordinary.

Micro rotor hidden in the plate is gorgeous! I'll get one!!

For me it has to encompass it all.

The look, the feel, the movement, the function and yes it’s nice when it’s finished to an extraordinary level. You can’t go wrong with any of the choices above. I have a real soft spot for the MG hamatic vintage. But would love to add a Kari at some point...

My dream combo!

I've asked the white boutique 1815 chrono, it is also a super long waitlist. In terms of the round LH, it's a bit lacking in-depth for me, but Georg is a completely different aesthetic, especially with the diamond! These three can not be wrong in any way!...

Hmmmmmm, this trio!

As you said, the rounded angle should be the top level of finishing, and the same goes for the large use of black polish. It was a great lesson for me. Thanks, my man!
