There is a watchmaker in NYC who services DeBethune. He also services Vianney Halter. He serviced mine last year. Excellent team. Best. Joe [nt]

De Bethune DB 25. A heads and tails picture.

 By: amanico : September 6th, 2017-10:38
I was lucky to admire Mo's De Bethune DB 25 some years ago, and must admit that this is one of these watches which haunt you for what they are, here, in this case, the gathering of poetry, romantisme, originality and technicality. Poetry, originality and ...

The DB25 is gorgeous but the Milky Way is above in terms of poetry in my opinion.

After the Swiss GTG and the De Bethune manufacture visit I can easily say that if I should buy a DB one day, that would be the Milky Way and/or the Meteorite dial one (without the Tourbillon. Only a two hands with moon phase). DB25 Milky Way Milky Way mac...

That meteorite dial was amazing in person.

And, I agree the Milky way is my favorite as well.

😉

Best wishes Alkiro

It really is something to behold.

And they can make the stars correspond to the sky on the day and place you were born, or married or whatever. It is fascinating.

Wow, that's great! [nt]

Oh yes

Best wishes Alkiro

The meteorite is almost unreal. It's like owning a piece of the universe on your wrist. A killer!

 By: Alkiro1 : September 6th, 2017-14:03
And when you know the difficulty to reach such a dial, you can only admire the true work of art made by DB. Best wishes Alkiro

I wish you. It's worth a shot!

Just wow!!! [nt]

Same feeling when I saw them in the metal 😉

That DB25 Milky Way is something else but the Meteorite dial...astounding!!!

I share your concern with regards to the future service of the watch

 By: Poky : September 6th, 2017-11:33
There are many independents out there which are highly desirable but the future is becoming more and more uncertain. Will they still be around to service their watches? how about the parts, will they be available or will they require to be custom made?

A Fantastic Brand That...

... I have definitely fallen for. This example is on my radar: DB29 But I think I have to have one of these first... Monatswerk - Must Have Cheers! - Scott ...

Wow! You want to own the Lange 31 😳

 By: Alkiro1 : September 6th, 2017-13:07
It's a true "monster". Almost 46mm / 16mm and 275g in platinum. So impressive! But with 31 days of power reserve you'll really have something unusual on your wrist. Best wishes Alkiro

Akiro, I Must Own...

... This watch one day. I have tried it on and it sits perfectly well on my already over-sized wrists. I love, love, love it. Cheers, - Scott

Ha! A monster I tried at the SIHH...

You have to have a drummer's wrist to wear it. ...

Well Then...

... I suppose I qualify. - Scott

 By: amanico : September 6th, 2017-14:12

Just go for it ,YOLO my friend . Its a great brand and love almost all there watches .

 By: Watchonthewrists : September 6th, 2017-14:23
I own a DB 27 and even if the brand will be gone one day i still would keep it in my collection . There will allways be a watchmaker who can and will service it imo Here a picture i took during the last swissGTG when we visit the factory ...

For sure , as long as the brand exists i will do that .

 By: Watchonthewrists : September 6th, 2017-22:34
But we are talking when the brand dos not exists anymore , what to do with it when your watch needs a service !!

I really hope so. [nt]

Not overly concerned with serviceability

 By: kykw : September 6th, 2017-23:55
That DB25 is one beautiful timepiece. Regarding the long-term sustainability of independents, I'm just not sure if they're that much more difficult to be serviced properly than a lot of their counterparts from major manufacturers. In terms of simply maint...

Thanks, Ken. Indeed, you have raised many interesting points.

 By: amanico : September 8th, 2017-00:00
The mention of vintage pieces is very à propos. Manufactures, at least most of them, cannot provide original parts. And you are the one who has to hunt them on the different collectors markets. True. For DB and some other original Indies, I doubt we'll ha...

Absolutely stunning.

 By: willski : September 7th, 2017-16:02
I'm a big fan of DB, but do share your concerns as to longevity and serviceability. To be honest, that's why I'm not opposed to a 'big brand' buying a stake in independents (e.g. Richemont in GF, APRP in RM, Chanel in Romain Gauthier etc.) I don't know th...

servicing should be no problem

The more I learn about this brand

 By: Cozmopak : April 15th, 2020-14:01
The more I fall in love with them. True innovation. In terms of servicing, if any of these parts need to be replaced in 50 plus years, the technology by then, specifically 3D printing, will be unimaginable. I would have no concerns.
