Bringing out the family: Parmigiani

 By: mrds : April 25th, 2020-06:41
The discussion in another thread with holdemchamp encouraged me to start a thread on Parmigiani. There is lots of respect towards this brand by quite a few in this forum but his pieces don‘t get much screen time. So I decided to take a family shot of my P...

The need of a Parmigiani forum section

 By: Weems@8 : April 25th, 2020-06:55
So many Parmigiana enthusiasts here, so why no Parmigiani forum section? It is a good idea to create.

I would strongly agree

 By: chintu : April 25th, 2020-07:07
A very under noticed and under appreciated brand. Amazing quality and value for money and yet ignored by many.

Thanks for your support, Weems! [nt]

It deserve a forum place in the left row. There is also a suggestion for a separate timeout section for audio equipment. ? Explain, music and high end audio. High end audio is translate to watches, the haute horlogerie of stereo equipment. Huge amounts of...

Good to read your text. Everything in-house, satisfied owners. So, where are we waiting for?

That‘s a real marvel!

Combines many of Parmigianis signature concepts and complications in one stylish package. Huge congrats on this great piece, chintu, and thanks a lit for sharing!

Fantastic!

Please post more! This is a brand I am thirsty for knowledge about . . .

Here are some factoids

 By: chintu : April 25th, 2020-07:46
Parmigiani is owned by Sandoz Foundation, which needs no introduction. The Sandoz group owns; Parmigiani Fleurier. Vaucher - which produces all the Parmigiani movements and also for others including Hermes. In fact Hermes bought 25% stake in Vaucher in 20...

The knurling is handmade by one person

 By: chintu : April 25th, 2020-07:54
I read in a statement by The Hour Glass, that the knurling on the bezels of all Toxic watches is being done by a single artisan since the year 1996. So each piece will have a unique count of the number of knurls on the bezel!!

Toric..

 By: chintu : April 25th, 2020-09:00
Apologies for the typo

Lots of knowledge here, thanks chintu

 By: mrds : April 25th, 2020-11:37
The only thing I‘d like to add is that the founder, Michel Parmigiani, started his career by restoring historical clocks and watches. I think in their designs you can see strong roots in tradition and heritage of the Vallée-deJoux horology, which he tries...

All great watches. I‘ll gladly take the Ionica!

The 8 Day watch and Toric Qualité Fleurier would be awesome and anymore pics of the Perpetual Calender would be awesome!! Thank you very much and I wish for your health, wealth, happiness, and overall well being

The '8 Days' is killer...

 By: mdg : April 25th, 2020-09:00
...the stepped bezel design makes the watches a bit thicker than they have to be but totally worth it. I've always liked the slightly off-beat design of these watches, and was fortunate to have dinner with the man himself many years ago and he was very ni...

I fully agree

 By: mrds : April 25th, 2020-11:50
The Ionica has one of the best movements in my humble collection. And the 8 Days complication is really useful in daily life. I used the Ionica as the „master clock“ to set the time on the watch I was going to wear that day. Thanks for sharing your commen...

Am a fan of ‘non-traditional’ case shapes...

 By: mdg : April 25th, 2020-12:03
...and this one in particular. What makes it really special is the shaped movement...going the extra mile : )

What can I say?

 By: mrds : April 25th, 2020-12:14
Enjoy, my friend. ...

Fantastic : ) [nt]

This one

 By: TeutonicCarFan : April 25th, 2020-13:27
caught my eye. I love the movement decoration and the shape of the bridges.

Yes. Who builds a tonneau shaped movement these days?

 By: mrds : April 25th, 2020-22:35
And the finishing is really good. Maybe not on par with my Laurent Ferrier, but quite close. Cheers, Daniel

Absolutely.

 By: mrds : April 25th, 2020-11:52
The Toric are very well executed, perfectly proportioned, timeless designs.

Those are some amazing watches Daniel. My favorite of the group would be your Toric Perpetual but the movement in the Ionica is special 😉👍

Very well constructed ( base PF331 - dia 28mm) with a diameter of 35.6mm including the calendar module; height of 5.4 mm; 50 hour power reserve; 316 components, 22KT gold rotor adorned with barleycorn guilloche and even the screw heads polished to perfect...

Thanks for the in-depth info on the movement

 By: mrds : April 26th, 2020-03:53
No gold rotor on my watch. AFAIK, they put the guilloche gold rotor only on the gold versions of the Hemispheres. On my watch, there is a steel rotor, in line with the case material. Enjoy! Daniel ...

Does your Tonda have a meteorite dial? I would like to add this reference to my collection in the future but with a meteorite or aventurine dial 😁👍

I'll echo others who've mentioned how you've pretty much covered everything that makes (made?) PF stand on its own. Let's see how that goes with the new man at the helm... I have just the one - the 2020 steel Tonda GT. It's a relatively safe toe-dip into ...

Many thanks for the kind words!

 By: mrds : October 31st, 2021-21:31
Always great to see other fans of PF here. You have a very nice Tonda here - love the guilloche! The black dial Toric was my first serious watch, and I still love it a lot. The Ionica is terrific, but sadly gets too little wrist time lately. And the QPF (...

Hi again, and thank you. What impresses me is not just by how you've dug deep into PF. It's the specific selection.

 By: Rosneathian : October 31st, 2021-23:48
I love your Ionica because first and foremost it's a form watch, and I don't have enough of them (that may change soon with my fourth or fifth about to enter the fold). I don't do regret but if I had a second bite at the Tonda GT I might have gone for the...
