The 7+ years wait list is only very recent

Feb 19, 2022,15:48 PM

As earlier mentioned only 6 months back, the wait list for this watch was only around 2 years+ and these guys do not really market their watch much and it flies under the radar pretty much. Even then, word of mouth goes by by watch collectors of the insane level of finishing on these watches as practically the whole case is black polished including the ridges on the winding crown. Theirs is practically a two man show and there is only so much that they can produce in one year to keep up to that level of finishing. Hence even without much marketing and going pretty much word of mouth it was than already a 2 years plus waiting list..

Recently, earlier this year there was an interview on The Collector's Edition with Ed Sheeren on what other watches is he keeping track on his collection and Ed mentioned that he is really into indies currently with Roger Smiths and the other Kikuchi Nakagawa. Not saying that was what has been fueling the jump from 2 years+ to 7 years+ in a short span of couple of months....could be a coincidence.

Bottomline, this is a insanely finished watch - granted not for everyone taste. Some have pointed out the base Vaucher movement. Actually nothing wrong with the Vaucher movement - a very solid dependable one used by quite alot of other brands including Richard Mille, Parmagiani.

Yes 20K is a lot of money and 7 years is indeed a long time. But if they do indeed have folks willing to wait that time for something that they really want and they are still able to raise their prices this April 2022 with almost zero marketing - all the power to them.

Want it so badly, but...

7.5 years of delivery period after order is impossible to swallow... ...

Super cool and those hands OMG

I understand.

Look for something else. Ev consider a vintage PP. they are not expensive in todays market and quality is unbeatable.

Vintage Patek calatravas

are some of the most beautiful watches ever made. They are criminally under appreciated in today's market

Yes, my friend. I wholeheartedly agree

If my wrist wasn’t so big I would spend much more in this department. The watch you are showing is gorgeous. Especially the hands are to die for. Stylistically it also lends heavy from the vintage Patek universe, IMO. Many interesting vintage Patek to cho...

Yes, I was also super enamored by this model…

until I saw waiting time.

Beautiful piece, but I would not consider waiting 7,5 years!

 By: lm6 : February 18th, 2022-19:39
There are other watches out there!

Indeed looks good but 7 years is too much!

By: Chronometer (aka yacomino) : February 18th, 2022-19:48

Since the tag line is "imaginary watchmaking," 7.5 years is pretty good!

 By: jiggerly-cool : February 18th, 2022-19:56
On the other hand, if it were "imaginative watchmaking" I would expect realization much sooner 😆

7 years in Tibet, maybe....

but not for a friggin watch. MSB

I honestly don't get it.

Paying close to 20k swiss francs for a watch with a not so well finished and not so interesting vaucher movement and a dial which looks worse than what you would find on a 5196P. There are so many better and more insteresting choices for the money: Lange,...

I'm not sure you've tried getting a 20k steel watch from Lange, PP, AP & Vacheron - good luck my friend !

 By: mahesh : February 18th, 2022-22:08
I'm not saying 7 years is correct or is it bad or worse watch - I'm just saying the other side of the grass isn't green either... sadly recent years, insta effect has been too much I suppose.

There are a few options in precious metals

 By: artconcept00746 : February 19th, 2022-00:41
You could get a saxonia thin, a jules audemars, a patrimony or a calatrava for a price close to that of this watch. Plus you could get a doctor strange in steel or go for a brand like GO, GP or UN. I don't dislike the watch, it's nice, but way overpriced ...

true

gorgeous dial - we got to be fair...while we all see we even can't get into waitlist of some big brands...we expect 1 indie watchmaker to produce all in 1 year ?!

 By: mahesh : February 18th, 2022-22:00
either good vintage or alternative modern timepieces can be great, but wait for a good thing isn't bad either ;-) Best, mahesh.,

I like the “imaginary watchmaking” confession...The point of these modern Indies is that even if you give up on the historical relevance of a product (a big No for me!), at least you get a great technical execution plus a terrific bespoke service…

Frankly here no history, no inward angles, and ultimately, not even a watch….The only thing in common with the names who wrote the history of this field seems to be the price my friend!😎 Perhaps time to move on?😄 Cheers.

I can see why!

nice and interesting comments, everyone!

Yes, i've moved on...

I ordered mine last year

 By: sham1 : February 19th, 2022-01:15
It will arrive in May or June this year (I had it confirmed just yesterday)and so far I have been offered double the money for it but those who know me will know that I love dress watches and Breguet numerals - offer me triple and I will love Breguet nume...

Lucky you, congrats

We all have our price!

 By: blau : February 20th, 2022-02:25
'Double' is probably mine, so I applaud you for your strength of will!

For me, this is one of the most beautiful dress watches currently in the market

 By: sham1 : February 20th, 2022-10:10
which is why I would not settle for double. Yes there are other dress watches out there but at this price range, I know of none with the quality and beauty of the Murakumo, even compared to the Laine V38 with its wonderful dials and similar movement.

gorgeous

7.5 years is a bit too much. What if it needs service?

very good question!

 By: perregaux1 : February 19th, 2022-02:42
Didnt think of it before

as much as I love independents but future service capability has always been my reality check

 By: Gelato Monster : February 19th, 2022-05:23
Good Luck Perregaux1 there are so many awesome and reasonable Independent.

I’d be looking elsewhere for anything above 6 months

 By: rnaden : February 19th, 2022-01:33
Lots of options and alternatives out there.

In my opinion

By: Jari from Finland : February 19th, 2022-01:36
after paying nearly half of the price while ordering and the rest of the price when the watch is ready to be shipped when taking into consideration the waiting time seven years is not for everyone. Nothing wrong with the watch itself.

Within seven years a hundred or more similar watches and watchmakers would’ve popped up

 By: dte2 : February 19th, 2022-03:49
And I can’t imagine not changing my mind halfway through the waiting

Was two years wait list..

 By: Zazoukian : February 19th, 2022-06:01
…6 months ago. Not sure what happened here. I hesitated and then decided that it was just overpriced for what it was and too similar to my 5196p. No regrets.

Amazing

 By: Ping.Timeout : February 19th, 2022-07:46
It looks amazing, especially with those hands and numerals.

Agreed with all comments

 By: Mike H : February 19th, 2022-08:36
I like the watch a lot but… considering all aspects (delivery time, price…) I would consider other options and go for a beautiful original vintage with a similar design.

3 remarks

 By: Jurry : February 19th, 2022-10:02
1) must say I love that dial, really do. 2) I noticed many state that 7 years wait is ridiculous (and they are right in 99% of all cases) 3) but if you love it enough, then 7 year wait could just as well be worth it

The 7+ years wait list is only very recent
