First Live Pictures - The Vianney Halter Deep Space A month ago I wrote about Vianney Halter and his next watch: "A year of dreaming, philosophizing, reflecting on the human condition. Trapped in the 4 dimensions of space and time. Free in those 4 dimensi...

Stupendous!

 By: Gary G : June 6th, 2013-14:58
Of course it is a striking looking piece, and the triple axis central tourbillon is a wonderful technical feat -- but to see it run increases the pleasure ten times! Many thanks for this introduction, for the wonderful photos (that really show the dimensi...

Unique and very interesting...

 By: Ares501 - Mr Green : June 7th, 2013-01:54
is it carrousel is it tourbillon or is it vianneythron? ;) Thank you Don for updates Best and Bravo Mr. Halter D

Love it!

Mesmerizing is the only word I can think of. Thanks for the pics and video Don.

One word: Magnificent!

 By: Ornatus-Mundi : June 6th, 2013-13:36
I am speechless by this machine, marvel at its technical, aesthetic and watchmaking sweetness. But most of all I am philosophically astounded by this piece. The latter I guess will reside it over and above all other discussion topics on this watch. I feel...

I am Speechless...

 By: SALMANPK : June 6th, 2013-15:11
so different, so unique, it'll take me a long time to understand and appreciate it, thanks for sharing your wonderful pictures and report. S

26 words too many

 By: MTF : June 6th, 2013-20:49
salmanQ8, :-) That's 26 words in excess of 'speechless' but I understand what you mean. We're looking at the watch now in-real-time .....well actually your PuristSPro AHCI co-moderator saw the final product in Singapore yesterday but can only post today. ...

Congrats Vianney!

 By: Theodore Diehl : June 6th, 2013-15:25
Brillant stuff, must have been a nightmare to create! Ciao, Theodore

Brilliant watch, love this piece!

 By: Tim Jackson : June 6th, 2013-15:26
Handled it in Basel, and loved the story direct from Vianney, of his inspiration for this remarkable piece. Congrats on those great photos Don. Cheers, Tim

Great watch and the best 3D horological sculture to date...

 By: Goldenlutin : June 6th, 2013-15:42
Really a great watch. With this watch VH brings the modern 3D watchmaking to its top. It also shows how VH reinveted himself and found a way to make a very commercial piece (in a positiv sense) after his stunning but very intellectual Janvier watch. By th...

Space Odyssey 2001

 By: RJW : June 6th, 2013-17:31
Kind of suggestive of a space station in a way. :) Congratulations Vianney. This has a big wow factor. Regards, Richard.

One awesome timepiece

 By: Nicko16 : June 6th, 2013-17:44
Really is stellar!

Very innovative and original....

 By: KIH : June 6th, 2013-21:33
.. would love to see in person - does he have any plan to visit Japan? Sigh.... A bit concern is the size of my shirt cuff, although it is such a minor point in front of this wonderful piece :-) Thanks, Don! Ken

intriguing ...

 By: a.ler : June 6th, 2013-22:19
captures the passage of time in a orbit. nothing i would not expect from the master, innovative and truly vianney's style.

shock

 By: takashi78 : June 6th, 2013-23:14
I always wonder with this kind of watch design, how good is the shock protection. Would be interesting to find out. Also is this his first watch in Ti material?

Mersmerizing spectacle

By: Mark in Paris : June 7th, 2013-01:26
Thanks Don for the pictures AND the video. Another interpretation of a splendid tourbillion. It must not have been easy to design I guess. Congratulations to Mr Halter ;) Cheers, Mark

Thanks, Don!

 By: amerix : June 7th, 2013-01:35
You really captured the magic -- and set it free for us to enjoy here, together with the thoughts of the maker himself. His secret dreams HAVE become true -- and therefore mine as well !!! Amery

A great narrative for a magnificent work of art...

 By: jmpTT : June 7th, 2013-10:11
I too am left (nearly) speechless. Congratulations to Vianney and his team on the unveiling of this extraordinary wristwatch, a tourbillon that immediately melts away my cynicism.

Another amazing watch...

...that I will never own (sigh). Why do I torture myself by reading these posts! Great photos and video by the way. Thanks! Emil

BOUGHT within 33 minutes on Thursday.

I had a nice dinner, and after looking at it, asked Vianney for a small touch, just for me, a change to a small part...nothing else...and you will see this watch very often here. This is the ONE relevant multiaxis. At the GPHH 2011, I said to the jury tha...

Captulating........

 By: Topcat30093 : June 7th, 2013-22:38
I was transfixed, just watching it. The detail on the movement is beyond words & I have no doubt, it would become the focal of any conversation.

Where does one begin?

 By: Mostel : June 8th, 2013-19:32
First of all, these are 'only' pictures, so who can really know except those who have handled this piece. But from pictures, I have these thoughts. The fetishism of the movement has reached an over-the-top level. It is so deeply, outrageously fetishistic,...

If you find it underpriced, just pay more...

 By: Goldenlutin : June 11th, 2013-16:35
If you really find it underpriced, I am sure that if you kindly ask, you will be allowed to pay more for it or even to buy a second one. Don't be shy :) I am sure they will not need 33 minutes to accept your offer, not even 33 seconds I guess.

after some thought I still do not know what to make of it...

 By: Ronald Held : June 10th, 2013-16:22
It is purely a kinetic sculpture since the rotation rates do not correlate to useful time units? At least you can tell time with it versus a watch where it could not be done.

how many superlatives can we use? it is stunning, unique & beautiful

 By: G99 : June 11th, 2013-12:11
i think that just about says it all :) Graham

even you? :-)

I do really like this watch but I think that the Antiqua was more of a revolution...

 By: Goldenlutin : June 22nd, 2013-10:54
when the Antiqua came out it was the first Steampunk watch ever and something unique and nobody saw it coming. The Deap Space is unique too in a way but it is not as unexpected. It is for me the apotheosis of the 3D watches and the triple axis tourbillons...
