Peter Speake-Marin Skulls Concept

Dec 02, 2009,11:55 AM

During Belles Montes Exhibition in Paris, I have discovered  the Skulls Concept from Peter Speake-Marin.
In the metal the watch is just WOW ... dashing and shifted!!!
Generally I am not a fan of this kind of eccentricity, but here I totally felt in love ... this retro style with the Piccadilly case is envoutant, the full diamonds setted dial is not to much on the contrary, they discreetly enhance the skulls!!!

The creator offered his time to tell me the history and sophistication of this limited edition in 20 pieces!
At the beginning, the Skulls Concept was a special order from one of Peter's client ... finally, the client chose another design, but Peter loves the idea and create this stunning piece!

The Piccadilly case in white gold with its 40,6mm diameter embarks a with gold dial paved with 490 brillant diamonds).
The four skulls are engraved in the white gold ... the design of the top of the skulls is more elaborate than the original version:

Current version:

Peter's trick to enhance the lightshow on the dial, a blued steel chapter ring

The inhouse automatic SM2 Caliber run this Montre de la Mort!
Peter entirely crafts the bridges (made in untreated German silver), theswan neck  regulator, the balance with a Breguet overcoil hairspring and the central winding rotor!!
The caliber is not yet finished wink

The watch is unique. It doesn't belong to a LE of 20 watches. But it is one of the first 20 watches to use the brand new SM2 caliber: it is the reason it is a "1 in 20" watch. More pics I took: The work on the caseback is not finished: Fr.Xavier...

A macabre concept but ...
