LOL, I’m the architect of my own destruction. I was way too successful in getting my wife passionate about horology….

And when she became my ex-wife, a half dozen pieces in the collection went with her. The good news is we still live in the same city and she’s kindly granted me visitation rights to those pieces whenever I want 😀 so I see the 110 occasionally, but it is the one I miss the most. You’re right, harder to find and getting more expensive. But one day……

3rd time is a charm, maybe?

Back in September I bought a new old stock Urwerk 201 BPT that worked for about a week before it broke. So I sent it in for service. Started to get an itch for another indie so I was able to source a mint MB&F black frog. Well that worked for about a ...

You won’t mistake that for anything other than a Urwerk!

I hope this one keeps running for a long time!

Yea you and me both, if this stops working, I'm done buying indies for awhile.

I would just twiddle my fingers and wait for these to come back from service.

Another masterpiece in your (indie)collection

If this one breaks the universe is trying to tell you something... Buy a 4th !!! =)

Thanks brother, glad to add this one to the stable.

Funny when I was in my 20's and 30's I felt that Urwerk and MB&F was to avant garde for me. Now here I am 43 not getting enough of them. Funny how tastes change.

Birds of a feather:)

Thanks my friend. I wish I had the time to drive the cars. Lately it's been me and the kids and the Tundra.

 By: jp884 : December 16th, 2021-22:51
Which is probably why I've gone back into watches, no time to drive. But always an appointment or play date to make it to.

Thanks, I’m really digging this piece

Now for some strap changes

Isn’t that all we do is chase the rabbit..

I have to tell you I was really frustrated. I was like are you kidding me, again? However, I had to remind myself the watches I bought were ones that I wanted almost a decade ago (services were due) that I couldn’t quite pull the trigger on. If COVID taug...

Out of this world!

Best, Jorge

Sorry to hear about your troubles, and hopefully the service won’t take too long or cost an arm and a leg.

Lovely pick-up. I’m becoming more and more of an urwerk fan. Wear yours in good health. What do the kids think of the crazy lume?

Thanks, Urwerk and MB&F are definitely an acquired taste..

But they are so much fun. I've been collecting for around 20 years now, and I was getting tired of reading traditional watches. Maybe it's my form of a midlife crisis when it comes to watches. Wanting something to make me feel 20 again

Kindred Spirits

Lovely timepiece selection, well played. Please keep us updated on the other pieces. Thanks for posting as feel we're both at the same 'junction' after decades of being an enthusiast... and now wanting the more interesting timepieces. Enjoy the journey

Kindred spirits indeed..

I will keep you updated as they come back. Thanks again and happy holidays.

This is one mean machine

… and the lume shot really is killer! Congratulations- and yes, indies rock! Daniel

Thanks Daniel, It definitely is understated yet stated?

The black ALTin case and strap mute the watch. But when you look at it, you're like, what is that? But in a good way.

Congratulations! I wonder...

If the minutes arc should always be on the right side.

I believe so..

 By: jp884 : December 17th, 2021-17:41
Since right hand dominant would make for left hand watch wearers. And since right handers out number left handers, probably just easier for them. The right-hand minute arc is so someone can view the time underneath a shirt sleeve or cuff without exposing ...

+1! (nt)

The 110 is, and always has been, my favorite URWERK. I miss mine very much. One day I hope to be acquainted with one again and it will thus become the only watch I’ve ever bought twice.

Sorry to hear you let yours go..

 By: jp884 : December 17th, 2021-22:04
I have quite a few that I have sold in the past and regretted doing it shortly after. Hopefully you are able to pick one up soon. As they are becoming increasingly difficult to find and more expensive to obtain.

Oooff I’m really sorry to hear that!

Couldn’t you have offered her a Rolex and kept the 110😉?

Well this is the major issue with AHCI type manufacturers...

 By: wootwoot : December 18th, 2021-00:08
Its the basic trade off between exclusivity and reliability. There really is no way around it, although some of the smaller guys do marked better than others, but will never reach the kind of MTBF enjoyed by say a tyipical Grand Seiko or Rolex.

All great points and all true..

 By: jp884 : December 18th, 2021-00:42
One has to weigh all these pros and cons when considering an indie. For me it was about design. Who else can give me the look and feel of an Urwerk or an MB&F besides them? I remember not too long ago there weren’t many of us buying FPJ. Those days ha...

Congrats on the Urwerk trio! Sorry to hear about the troubles, hopefully the other two come back and last a long time.

I had heard pretty good things about the reliability of the Urwerk movements, hopefully after the service they'll be solid for many years to come. I'll be curious to hear about your service experience, I've been interested in Urwerk watches and would love...

Holy cow!!

I don’t think I have the wrist to pull that one off. But congratulations!!! Hope this one works well Cheers Peter

Peter, I don’t have a big wrist either..

 By: jp884 : December 19th, 2021-22:01
I’m 6 3/4 inch wrist but it wears comfortably. For me it’s always the position of the crown, as that is what digs into my wrist. Whenever they put the crown at the 12 position the crown becomes a non-factor. Hope this helps, Jorge
