Luckily I got it fix locally, courtesy of a friend in one of the retailers. So far working fine although I seldom activate the chrono for fear of it not zeroing again. Cheers, Jim

MIH off to the doctor - anyone else

 By: Watch_time_it_is : July 4th, 2008-20:28
My much loved MIH is acting up - changes date at noon but not at midnight (can tell because the day has two displays, AM and PM). Just got it in April not upset at all - LOVE THE WATCH Anyone else had any issues?

BTW - some images

Would there ever be a MIH 2 watch..??

 By: Andy : July 5th, 2008-06:03
I love its simplicity but if it was even more simple by removing the chrono, which is on the back anyway and a bit pointless and thus making it a few mm slimmer, and have a working seconds sweep on the front I'd be first on the list..!! Could they do both...

For a working seconds sweep.....

...press the button above the crown once. It's a great watch but, yes, the chrono is somewhat ineffectual and it does wear thick. All of that is forgotten and forgiven every time you gaze at that dial. Cheers, pplater.

Ahhhh, lucky you!....

MIH repair

Yup! Mine too. Acted up after 2 weeks of ownership...

The day wheel also became misaligned and spent most of its time between days. Embassy was kind enough to sort out all the transportation arrangements for me. Awaiting its return. Another issue is the second hand not reseting to 12. Didn't happened to mine...

Surprised at the number effected -

This is unexpected and disappointing. Very glad to hear all is well after the adjustments. Do you think it has anything to do with how they ship the watch originally? No box, lots of bouncing around. While I like the newspaper/date idea, the packaging I u...

Not sure as the packaging was pretty secure...

 By: Gaz : July 6th, 2008-03:54
It was very secure within the Fedex box and wrapped in bubble wrap. Who knows, maybe we got a couple of Friday Jobs. My other hypothesis is that the 7750 is prone to date change problems when adjusting the date during the wrong time period. My Panerai 124...

tiny output with limited ability to prototype and R&D

It's a wonder more of them aren't problematic. At this level of production/exclusivity, I think you have to take the possibility of small problems as part of the charm of ownership. As the calendar mechanism is completely "in-house", I don't think blaming...

John, the 7750's calender function...

is still the main driver for the annual calender. So it could have to do with the symptoms. Best, Magnus

it seems pretty unlikely, but the point is moot regardless

 By: ei8htohms : July 6th, 2008-15:36
Hello Magnus, I believe all that is left from the 7750 calendar mechanism would be the calendar wheel itself and perhaps an intermediate wheel or two (I can't recall exactly what the 7750 calendar mechanism looks like off the top of my head). It seems hug...

What is the best time of day to change date of a 7750?

 By: MarcB : July 7th, 2008-10:55
Can you recommend the best time of day to change date of a 7750-based watches to best avoid "user inflicted damage"? Thanks, Marc.

noon

 By: ei8htohms : July 7th, 2008-15:24
Hi Marc, Typically the watch companies will recommend against adjusting the calendar between 9 PM and 2 AM or something to that effect, but it depends on that particular calendar mechanism and each additional display of course adds complexity. Because of ...

Thanks!

Now I have a real question...

 By: Ornatus-Mundi : July 8th, 2008-12:57
since you assume that the fault most likely is caused by the additional gears of the annual calender, and then you suggest that the best time to set the watch is noon (which is when the annual mechanism adjusts the date from the hour wheel side (remember,...

Marc didn't ask about the MIH watch, he asked about the 7750

 By: ei8htohms : July 8th, 2008-13:53
Hi Magnus, Sorry for any confusion on my part or that I may have caused. I don't know the first thing about MIH calendar mechanism or how it mates with the 7750 base. I took Marc's question to be a generic one about the 7750, and in the instances where th...

The chrono counter on the back (the red pointer) resets not to zero but

half a minute before zero for mine . I heard its a pretty common problem amongst owners in Singapore . I brought up the problem to Embassy and they told me to send them some pictures . I did exactly that but havent heard from them since and its been 2 mon...

i know that the title is a huge mix of metaphors, but i really do hope that this is just a glitch in the last production run. i've got one coming in November and not paid for it yet. should i be worried? or should i appreciate it for what it is, a superb ...

BACK - Safe, sound, and working perfect.

 By: Watch_time_it_is : July 26th, 2008-23:22
So my MIH is back, and working great. I enjoyed a long and very pleasant call with the gentleman from the service center when he called personally to tell me it was on its way back. I can not address the concerns that future owners might feel given the po...
