I don’t know the guy, but there is something kind of hollow about it…

…the story is basically ‘rich well connected guy discovers watches, immediately uses connections to buy some ultra rare watches’. Combine that with the fact that I’ve seen him on the Hodinkee comments being condescending about other people choices (i saw a comment where someone said they found Daniels deigns to be too old fashioned, and he responded something along the lines of ‘well maybe stick with Breitling’), and there is something I just don’t really like

The never ending desire

I think about this subject everyday. Am i complete or should i go on with collecting? My core is done, but one watch is missing. I must get it to be complete. After i go on, because it never stops. I am satisfied, but i just needed more watches.
Good morning, dear Weems!

You describe our "suffering" (luxury problems! 😉) as watch collectors very well. Perhaps sometimes we should ask ourselves if this unquenchable thirst doesn't come from somewhere else and this manic watch collecting is just a kind of … substitute gratific...

Do you mean we collect because there is something missing from our lives and hearts and we try to fill that hole with watches? But the problem is that hole could never be filled with materialistic objects and so we are never satisfied. A deeper issue that...
Yes, I think that collecting things

like we do - in a very passionate and sometimes also … manic way - might mean that we perhaps miss something. Of course that doesn't have to apply to everyone. But I think you have to be aware of that and should at least be careful. For me, this "hobby" (...

I remember when these things could be acquired. Especially the Simplicities. I had folders stuffed with high-res pics on my hard drive and would go to sleep dreaming of a small WG Simplicity with that Metalem dial. Good times. I just had the one teeny-tin...

I had a baby, a mortgage, and no way on earth to spend any significant money on a watch. Now that I do have a few dollars, the prices are insane. Just my luck!
Owning a George Daniels when before nothing was there

It is remarkable. The story behind of his collection is interesting. It all began with the Citizen of his father. I guess Levin is a one of his kind. I guess it is a matter of time he wil collect as many watches as he can. Maybe this could be a peace, a m...

I don't have to own everything. I can look at all these wonderful pieces of art like at pictures in a museum and enjoy it from a distance. That makes life a lot more relaxed. Best Thomas

I've watched him on several Watch Youtuber's live streams and he seems like a respectful and humble guy. I guess it's all relative.
