Nicely balanced dial, a useful readable date and a long power reserve. No contest here in my opinion.

This is one of those this or that posts...

I got myself a Patek 3940J and enjoyed wearing it often. Recently, I came across the FPJ Octa QP and thought it was amazing... Both are atheistically pleasing to me, but FPJ is more special in my eyes. The movements are both technically great, with FPJ ha...

Yes you are :-)

I would keep the 3940, much more classic but perhaps that's not what you want anymore. I don't like the dial of the FPJ too much mainly due to the metal inlay. But you need to choose what you like most! br, Dirk

You’re right!

It’s almost a battle of the opposite. I need to find a common ground for my head and heart.

I like the 1815 "western" style of the FPJ a lot

Reminds me of US western movies, as if a wealthy land lord would own it. To keep both would be best.

Both are great watches

I have owned both (still have the Journe) and prefer the FPJ for similar reasons that you have stated. I like the aesthetics and the easy to set feature. Good luck with your decision. Either way you will have an amazing perpetual.

Yes. Keeing 3940J and add FPJ

To the collection would be ideal. Maybe I should give myself more time for this to become possible.

FPJ for me. It is a more complete proposition imo.

All the best, Alex

FPJ for me.

Easy to read layout plus . . . Arabic numerals which I love and a long power reserve handsomely displayed. FPJ is the winner for me. M4

I would go for the FPJ .

I pref the overall look of the watch

That’s what draws me to the watch too!

Then I realize how easy it is to operate!

Agreed [nt]

Nope, not crazy at all!

The QP is a really attractive, interesting watch (though I'm partial to the older FPJ Octa Calendrier and Perpetuelle models). Before committing to the FPJ QP, though, I'd want to talk to several folks who've owned one for a few years, to ask about reliab...

May I give an opinion..

... even if I have not owned either of these watches. Although I appreciate how accomplished the FPJ is, aesthetically for me the 3940J is perfect and I would not let it go.

FPJ

Nicely balanced dial, a useful readable date and a long power reserve. No contest here in my opinion.

They call these ‘first world problems’! :)

Nice dilemma to have! No lose situation here. Cheers Drew

Not crazy at all

 By: radone : January 30th, 2019-07:31
if every morning you feel like stapping the FPJ first, that is the first sign that dust ia going to lay on the PP. And it is not worth keeping such a watch in a drawer.

I meant "strapping" [nt]

FPJ for me

 By: cazalea : January 30th, 2019-08:01
The dial has better balance and a more use-it-everyday look. in my opinion. Cazalea

Keep both!

The FPJ QP's legibility and easy of adjustment are really key things.

Thanks everyone for the input!

It’s been very helpful!!!!!!!! I’ll take my Lunar New Year break to think this over. Hahahaha

The 3940J is a classic but it is too small at 36mm. I also believe that platinum has a better aesthetic vs yellow gold.

Unfortunately you'd end up having to add another $25-30k to get the FPJ. Last year I was looking to add a perpetual to my set of watches. I really liked the FPJ but it lacks a seconds hand which is 100% a deal killer for me. [There is a limited edition "B...

The only real negative for the FPJ is the lack of a moon phase.

A perpetual calendar looks incomplete without this complication.

Right now, thats the plan.

 By: fuigo : February 1st, 2019-19:34
Hahaha.... Have the 3940J and will work to obtain the FPJ QP.

Good plan if patient enough. (nt)

FpJ without a doubt. Instant change and quick.correct.

Lead the way technology wise to the PP. The my downside for the FPJ and that's not picking is taht I would have preferred applied numerals or etched versus the print and I am sure they could have found a way to hide the screws in the front but it still h...

I was wondering why the FPJ was so much more favored than the PP.

Then I realized you posted in "Independents". Seems to me you already decided which way you want to go, even if sub-consciously. Enjoy the Journe. It's exceptional.

You’re right!

I did think for a moment where to post this... If I had posted this in the PP forum.........
