Cuervo y Sobrinos' new salmon dial Historiador Flameante

Cuervo y Sobrinos is not a watch company many of us think about. The company is a fascinating anomaly with a highly idiosyncratic history. It produces 3,000 watches a year that cannot be mistaken for the products of any other brand. Some of its output in recent years demonstrates its commitment to legacy. I'm thinking of the Landeron bicompax chronograph built on top of their own restored 1950s movement.

CyS watches will not be to everyone's tastes - and that's probably an understatement - but due to my interest in the history of watch markets in central and south America, I thought I'd give the one below a try. It'll be in my hands in about one month's time.

I have seen a preview (pics)of this watch a few weeks ago .

and I very well could be, didn't they have an association with Patek Phillippe years ago?

CyS was one of a number of influential retailers south of the US. Others included Serpico y Laino in Venezuela and Gondolo
